Looking for a new Larsson

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that, although this is not a priority, Barcelona is searching the market for an experienced and cheap back-up goalscorer, a new Larsson so to say.

The first option would be Inter Milan forward Julio Ricardo Cruz (33), who has been followed by the Barcelona technical staff for years and could leave the Italian champions after the appointment of José Mourinho as new Inter manager.

AC Milan forward Filippo Inzaghi (34) would be the second name on the list, with Juventus forward David Trezeguet (30) and Mallorca forward and Spanish international Dani Güiza (27) also being possible candidates to fill that role.

pep's opinion:
last year i said they should bring in a veteran goalscorer as back-up for eto'o. back then i had three names: cruz, inzaghi and klose. with a new guy (or eto'o) + henry + bojan, I don't really think this is a priority anymore.

Trezeguet is still an option

cruz, inzaghi and guiza are useless. only trezegol should be considered out of the old forwards.

Trezeguet is unlikely cause if he comes, it would be as regular, not as back-up for Adebayor or Berbatov or I don't know who. Plus: hew ould cost too much to be on the bench.

I would go for Inzaghi, great goal scorer. Give him one year, with an option for a second. If he retires, Bojan can fully shine.

I have nothing against a veteran striker but not Inzaghi, what a diving bitch! Thats one of the most hated players for me ...

You'll love him if he'll play for us ;-)))

Cruyff said about him: "He doesnt have any technique, but somehow he always stands on the right place." So not veto there...

If we get Cruz, I'll commit suicide ...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA....

The quote on Inzaghi about not having any technique but always stand in the right place is really funny... guess he has great positioning...

anyways among the mentioned players... Guiza! Guiza!

I agree with Pep about having an extra striker in the mould of Larson might be excesive but I'd still rather have a super sub and IMO Guiza is second to none out of all the candidates he is the only one that is proven in La Liga (pichichi 2008)and he will probably accept a back up role better than any of the rest

As for central striker, only two men who can replace Etoo are Ibrahimovic and Drogba. As for new back-up striker, we already have Henry, he looks and plays like Larsson, and that on central position, not on the left. I really dont know what is going on with Barca board, selling Giovani, or Etoo is really stupid. Why selling homegrown jewel and makin the same mistake like with Fabregas or now Pique (who in my opinion will develop in new Puyol), and if Etoo has wrong attitude it is up to coach to deal with it, just look how Fergie managed with Ronaldo. As for midfield, Hleb is not half of Deco, who could eventually replace him and create the game in the midfield, pass and shoot are Diego, Van Der Vaart and Moutinho (and of course Fabregas). Good luck Barca!

Omg, once more this bulshit about mistake with Fabregas and Pique. Could you finally understand that Barcelona could not do anything against their leaving?! They offered them new deal, thats the maximum.
