Final offer for Alves

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona has put their final offer for Sevilla right back defender and Brazilian international Daniel 'Dani' Alves (25) on the table.

After a bid of 30 million euro° was rejected, Barcelona has made a last offer of 32 million euro°, plus some variables depending on the performances of the player and the team over the coming years.

Mallorca left back defender and former Barcelona player Fernando Navarro (25), on who Barcelona still has some transfer rights, could also be included in the deal (read more here).

Asked about the rumours linking the player with Barcelona and the declarations of the player saying he wants to leave (read more
here), Sevilla president José María del Nido (picture) meanwhile told the official club radio station that Alves could leave this summer:

"He has a contract but Daniel has again put himself on the market and Barcelona is actively interested in him. Of course it's every time more difficult to keep him with us and the fact that we won't play Champions League next season means we have changed our transfer policy. We will do what's best for Sevila. I still won't say how much Daniel is worth, you just should look at what has been paid for other right back defenders in the past. But all clubs should have in mind that with article 17 of the Fifa transfer regulations which enables players to leave for a reduced fee, we all have a sword of Damocles hanging above our head."

José Rodríguez 'Rodri' Baster, the agent of Alves, urged Del Nido in an interview with Madrid sport tabloid As to be more flexible:
"I understand that he wants to receive as much money as possible, but when the club will make such a huge profit, I would not understand that a deal would fail because of 2 million euro. If this goes on, the interested clubs could get tired and cancel everything, like happened last year with Chelsea. Dani doesn't deserve this. The most important player in the history of Sevilla should be able to leave through the front door."

I think Barcelona is going to be giving up the ranch to get this guy. Personaly I would have stood my ground at an offer of 30mil Euro "take it or leave it"! Since that has already been rejected then Del Nido can "try" to sell him to Man U instead (which I believe he would probably sell for slightly less considering its a team outside La Liga.) And Barcelona should concentrate on other options at the right back position, (i.e. Maicon, Richards, Sagna.) Contrary to popular belief Alves' signing is more a sense of urgency for Laporta's job than the team itself! There is NO player, (Ronaldinho included) that is greater than the club itself! Let's keep that in mind. If Alves doesn't sign it's not the end of the world, nor does it mean Barcelona is doomed for another miserable season. Everyone needs to stop looking at Alves as Barcelona's "saviour"!

FCB board is really quite ignorant on this issue. Del Nido, along with Aulas is known for being one of the hardest bargainers in Europe, but he is digging his own grave with this policy. Even Chelsea as a big spender turned their back on him and gone for another option (Bosingwa). He doesn't realize that except FCB there aren't even few of clubs willing to spend such amount of money on a right full-back no matter how good Dani Alves really is. Man Utd is quite distant in this game and i doubt that SAF would be keen to fill Del Nido's bags of money so that should leave him with no options, unless he wants a heavily disappointed player in his team.

In this situation best solution would be to sell R10 to Man City and try to include Micah Richards in the deal (20~30M € + MR ???) since Mr. Shinwatra is so interested in bringing R10. That would bypass all this Del Nido circus and give FCB one of the most promising young players in the game. Micah is a monster and compared to Dani Alves, his attacking contribution is not so notable as Brazilian's and he is not so technical but he is much taller, better aerial presence, very very fast, strong and uncompromising in defence and tackling and even versatile. He can easily play as a CD and DM. Not to mention his age and potential. As well, as Englang doesn't participate in Euro, his price won't be doubled in an upcoming month.

Considering Maicon, he is an excellent player but I think that both Moratti and Mourinho would not even think of letting him go. Besides, there aren't better options. As for Sagna, he just signed an contract extension an is very umlikely to leave which leaves this right full-back choice on 2 candidates - Dani Alves (but not for any price; personally, I wouldn't go above 28M €) and Richards.

Anyone agrees?
Guess if anyone from FCB staff is actually reading this blog? :)
