Italian sports paper La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Barcelona officials have met with Juventus forward David Trezeguet (30) in Monaco, where they offered the French striker a four-year contract, worth 5,5 million euro a year (read more here).
Although Trezeguet said earlier this week in an interview with Italian television channel Sky Italia that he hoped to end his career with Juventus, he would be considering the offer.
And a statement by Antonio Caliendo, the agent of Trezeguet, in an interview with the Italian paper yesterday seems to suggest that the player has accepted the offer: "Barcelona should now make the next move. If they can find a deal, it won't be the player who will cause problems." Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Trezeguet has asked Juventus to let him go.
With Juventus declaring that the player was untouchable when the first rumours appeared (read more here), this seemed to change this week when Juventus owner John Elkann said to journalists: "Will Trezeguet leave Juventus? You need to ask Barcelona."
Barcelona would be willing to pay a transfer fee between 20 and 25 million euro° for Trezeguet. Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo that both clubs are negotiating by phone. Italian sports paper Tuttosport claims that Juventus has rejected a first offer of 20 million euro°.
Barcelona could offer players to lower the fee. La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Juventus would be interested in Rafael Márquez. El Mundo Deportivo claims that Juventus officials have asked Barcelona to make a contact with Josep Maria Mesalles, the agent of Samuel Eto'o, to hear first hand from the Cameroonian if he would be willing to join Juventus.

20-25 million euro =
32-40 million us dollar
16-20 million british pound
i dont want him in the team, hes old, wat about etoo, hes younger and better than him, stuiped dont like etoo, oh well etoo is too good for them!!!!!
I thought Trez wanted to finish his career at Juve, and that it was the president of the club or some members of the board who are pushing to sell him instead? I won't deny that he's a very good "in the box" scorer but with his age and then having to "adapt" to Barca's style I don't think this is going to work. Even though Henry is an unfair comparison because he played out of position for most of the season you get my point. Besides Eto'o's younger and better than Trez so how would this be "strengthening" the club? I would rather sign a "true" left winger who can start for the club than go after another central striker when we have an abundance of them. So put that money towards Silva instead and call it a day! Valencia already turned down a 20mil Euro bid, well then offer then 25mil "take it or leave it" and see what they have to say.
dont do stupid thing barca, neither trezeguet nor s.garcia can buy!! dont waste the money!!!!
it would be a stupid move...don't sign another 30+ striker...go for benzema for any price or for huntelaar, but the best option is to not sell eto if he's willing to stay. one mediocre season can't be a reason to sell him. he is a world class forward and still many years ahead to prove his abbilities
I'm stunned, I can't believe this. They didn't learn anything from last year's nonsense buying Henry?! PLEASE don't buy that old players. Besides Eto'o is world class-100 times better then Trez. Splash that cash for Aguero, Huntelaar, Palacio, Van der Vaart...Barca need some "fresh blood"! Pep, does anyone from Barca read this???
Trezguet is a class player who is very loyal to Juve... When they were regulated to Serie B and would not transfer what in the world would make you think Trezeguet would even consider trasnfering now???
Trezeguet is good in the box and scores goals but how about other options?!?!
Juve is probably not going to let Trez go for at least 30Mil and even so Trez probably would like to continue playing for Juve...
Eto should stay but if he wishes to leave his decision should be respected for what he has done for Barca... There seems to be interest for Eto in Inter (Mourinho) and maybe there could be a chance to swap for Ibrahimovich (Although heard that Ibra is happy at Inter and is actually his favourite club as a child)
If Ibrahimovich wants to stay at Inter there are still other better options out there than Trez...
Eg. David Villa who mentioned interest in playing for Barca... and Guiza who also mentioned such interest... If Eto chooses to go the fee for Eto should be more than the fee for either Villa or Guiza...
Deco who has also mentioned interest of other clubs should be respected and if chooses to go to Inter to rejoin Mourinho... Get a reasonable fee and get Joao Moutinho...
Then of course it is the left winger player... Would like to see David Silva but if the transfer fee is still too high then probably Ben Arfa as another option...
(Eto and Deco should stay but if they decide to leave then these are probably some option??)
Would probably have to wait until after Euro 08 for Barca to go any further with any transfers...
"Pep, does anyone from Barca read this???"
Maybe if the blog keeps on growing, they will after a while... ;)
