[Henrique] Bayer Leverkusen-Cottbus

Bayer Leverkusen played on Wednesday the 1/8 finals of the German cup. Bayer defeated first division club Cottbus 3-1.

Brazilian central defender and Barcelona loan out Henrique (22) stayed on the bench for the whole game.


Barcelona bought Henrique this summer and decided to loan him out to Bayer Leverkusen for one season (read more here). This blog will follow Henrique's performances during this season.

Was he suspended or injured? Or what was the reason for benching him? As far as I can see he have played every single minute so far.

A Cup game it seems not very important for Bayer so maybe he was rested.

It's a little unclear. Lukas Sinkiewicz (who alreday played for the German national team) has recovered from an injury and he played on Wednesday. While people thought that it was only to give the guy some minutes, the manager has now said that Henrique could again start on the bench in the weekend. Let's wait and see...

Maybe because he said publicly that he´s dreaming of a return to Barça ? I don't know, just a guess ...

Well he was always going to return to Barcelona though, we do own the player's rights. It's probably just because it's a cup match. Possibly the coach wants to start integrating the other Center back into his rotation to prepare for next year.
