Barcelona president Joan Laporta spoke yesterday to the club's official media about some changes that need to be made to the club's by-laws as a consequence of the new Catalan legislation about sports clubs and associations.
Laporta said that the club is thinking about introducing two main changes:
1. the term of the president would be seven years and one could only serve as president for one term.
2. people should be able to vote in the presidential elections by internet.
The changes to the club's by-laws have to be adopted by a general assembly in the summer.

pep's opinion:
if i understand it well, the new rule says that one term should be between six and eight years. in that case, I think two terms of six years would be better. if you have only one term, you could be tempted to forget about the long-term. i also think this change should mean it should be made easier to vote a president out of his seat since seven years is a long time for the next elections. the voting by internet is a great idea (if they can organize it in a secure way).

Lot of good points,a 7 year mandate would bring long term planning and commitment to the projects and short term ones have to be taken anyways.
In terms of voting out a president,it should be done in the similar way it was tried this summer against Laporta.
Internet Voting is an amazing idea but technically it should be brilliant,if they can do it,amazing.
Internet voting would be amazing... as a member living outside of Spain, I can not always make it to Barcelona for the vote.
I prefer to have it as now,
i mean i do not want to have any change.
I think 4 years is enough, and if the president succed he can continue 4 extra years (as for Laporta).
I agree with Anonymous, I am a member outside of Spain and it would be nice to be able to vote via the internet.
I can't believe there is someone in our board who make so absurd a joke! Whoever came up with such kind of idea should fuck off immediately! The whole point of member ownership is to minimize individual negative effect over the whole club. Such kind of idea simply makes president election meaninngless. 7 year is long enough for a president with low IQ to bring the club relegated, while multi-terms for a good president is crucial for the club to keep a good development tendency. Regarding to the internet voting thing, I think even for someone with a little bit of internet surfing experience, he'll understand how easy it is to manipulate the internet voting result. 7 years is clearly just a time length for which someone wants to remain in the board. He must think all the members are as stupid as he is by creating such an idea.
