Everton interested in Gudjohnsen

British football site Fansfc claims that Everton is interested in signing Barcelona attacker and Iceland international Eidur Gudjohnsen (30) before the end of the January transfer window.

Everton manager David Moyes wants to add another striker to his squad and would have turned his attention to Gudjohnsen, despite the player's agent ruling out a move last week (read more here). The English Premier League club hopes to land Gudjohnsen for a transfer fee of 2,1 million euro°.

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Gudjohnsen, whose contract with Barcelona expires in the summer of 2010, has already rejected the offer and will stay at Barcelona.

Asked about the new rumours, the attacker's father and agent Arnor Gudjohnsen is quoted by British sports site Setanta that Gudjohnsen a move is unlikely at this moment: "I don’t think that something’s going to happen in January, Eidur wants to remain at Barcelona and Barca want him to stay."

I think he will stick around till 2010 and rightfully so.

If Guardiola counts on him I don't see why he should not stick around. Especially at times when we have injuries/lot of matches, he is a valuable asset to the team. We should hold on to him until the end of his contract, after which he himself would probably leave/consider retirement.

let him go, hes clogging up the playing time. we have 3 other people who can play the third midfield roll better than him (kieta, sergi and iniesta) let him go.
