Still no final agreement on Busquets renewal

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that there's still no final agreement on the renewal of Barcelona midfielder and Spanish youth international Sergio Busquets (20), although the differences would now only be minimal (read more here).

The five-year duration of the contract and the fixed salary would be agreed upon, but the final definition of the incentives would have slowed down the renewal talks with Busquets, whose current contract expires at the end of this season.

Since Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain is still in Japan, it's Barcelona general football director Raül Sanllehí who has been negotiating by phone with the player's agent Josep Maria Orobitg this week. During a last telephone contact on Friday, both would have agreed to meet again next week. This meeting could be the last.

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Busquets will probably sign his renewal before the end of the year, although the fixed fee offered by Barcelona would be extremely low compared to other players in the squad. Real Madrid would be closely monitoring the renewal talks.

Is it just me or is the contract renewals going much more smoothly when Txiki is away?

oh common,i hate these things, just call the players representitive in your office and finalize these deals, especially the xavi and busquets deals,i mean we hear about them for 1-2 months.....dont forget we still have many players that need new contracts, eto and puyol are two of them that their contract expires at 2010

"""offtopic"""
i just read somewhere that benzema said :"I love Real Madrid, the jersey, the club and all that it represents."this is interesting cause he said it after the barca- aguero media were out....maybe kun is coming to barca afterall.i prefer him to benzema anyday.
sorry for the offtopic

Well Skanjos just to complement that, my opinion is that Benzema is trying to start an all out bidding war, in which overall he will benefit more by. Aguero's shun of Real Madrid, shows that whilst financial incentive is high, so is the mentality/suitability of the club. This is why, I still endorse an Arshavin transfer.

Aguero to me, would therefore be more welcomed, not only that, but he's adaptability also puts less pressure on Eto's future.

Sell Henry at the end of the season, keep Eto'o and buy Aguero. Aguero can play on the left no problem, with Eto'o in the middle and Messi on the right. Aguero can cover for Eto'o in case of injury and Iniesta can fill in for Aguero on the left. Hleb/Bojan/Pedro fill the gaps. That would be in my opinion perfect. Benzema can not be bought without displacing Eto'o but Aguero can. Benzema cannot really play as a winger, while Aguero is more suited to this role and he is also able to play the no 9 role. He is more versatile as a player and therefore more useful to the team and worth the transfer fee. While we have Eto'o and he is on form there is no point spending money on Benzema who would expect to start..

and when eto'o retires at barca, bojan will be a home made and suitable replacement for him. after 3 years bojan can become a world class striker so i think there is no need to buy benzema. instead buy aguero. the next 2 years i think messi will be nominated as the best player world wide but maybe in 3 or 4 years aguero can take this role.

Anyone watching Real Madrid and Sevilla? I'm watching the CCTV feed and every few minutes they cut to Calderon shaking his head and sighing or his hand in his face rubbing his eyes. Classic!
