what do you think guys what's gonna be?
Barca-Lyon

I don't think it will be easy

I think this was the best possible draw for Barca! Ok, Lyon is'nt that bad, but clearly the weakest of the four possible opponants...

Benzema. I called the inter manutd and real liverpool games in advance.

It won't be easy, but if you want the cup you must win all-nomather who came in fornt of you. There is no fear, we are not that team who is playing 10 or 11 in front of the own goal.
Visca el Barca!

Last season we had a great game at the Camp Nou (Karim who?) but a rather difficult one there, so we'll have to be aware of that first match.

Justice has been done: Madrid-Liverpool... Seems like the big guns have drawn against eachother. Chelsea-Juventus, Inter-Man U, Arsenal-Roma. Interesting to say the least!

Everyone knows the games will be tough. Clearly the competition is a lot about luck. You can draw and have a bad game and you're out due to away goals.

Teams like Inter/Chelsea are better opponents later rounds. Arsenal is too unpredictable, they can be terrible or fantastic, especially when they get Eduardo, Walcott back by the time the next round is played. Lyon was the best possible draw for us. All Spanish teams got fantastic draws, with the exception of Real Madrid. With their season the way it is, they'll want opportunities to beat big teams to prove their own worth anyway.

arsenal would be easier !!!!!!!

Looks like a perfect draw to me. Inter or Man U will be out. Those two were between the five top candidates (Man U, Chelsea, Inter, Liverpool and Barça, as I see it) to win it, so that's a good thing. Othere could be out too, so no we just ahveto do our job and focus on that game. Lyon is a tough team, very dangerous attacking but maybe not as steady at the back.

Great draw for us; The surprise will come from Portugal where Sporting will eliminate Bayern. My only disappointment is Inter v ManU. i wanted Inter to play Chelsea soo bad. I think they will meet in the next round

bring on the unlucky frenchmen :)

In this competition anything can happen (runs of good form, good games not so good games)... No teams are to be underestimated... Barca being drawn againts Lyon is not a difference to being drawn to any team as all teams have just as much chance to win this competition... Barca ALL THE WAY!!!

well if our wishes wld keep coming true, then we would win all trophies (remember the poll?). I am happy to play any team, but beating the "big gun" en route to the final would be better.

Did u guys see the Lyon representatives reactions when they hear "FC Barcelona" is their next opponent?? That just show how disappointed they are and they really hoped that they'll not be drawn against us, not just them but the other teams in the world too!!

We can't complain on the CL draws so far. Group stage, we were quite lucky too. And of coruse Lyon can cause you trouble but we can't deny the pressure against Chelsea or Inter would have been a lot bigger.

hmm.... we could have had it easier!
tough team. very consistent in the french league.

Ok, kamikaze, but Chelsea and Inter are very consistent in the English and italian leagues which is clearly a step higher. No need for underestimation though! But I'm sure Gaurdiola won't let that happen...

Lyon was the easiest possible draw for us, particularly the way we're playing this year. I just can't see them scoring against us in the run of play, particularly as they like to flow so much through the midfield.

The only danger will be Benzema on the counters, and yielding free kicks in Juninho range. He's deadly.

But Ligue 1 is not quite world-class. I watch a lot of it via TV5. Lyon is their best side, but they would be a top-8 Liga or Premiership side, rather than perennial championship winners as they are.

There are some very good draws. I think that Chelsea/Juventus will be more interesting than people think, even if there won't be a goal scored until the penalty kick phase, though Del Piero could stun. If he has a good tie, they go through that one.

Inter will also beat Man U, I think. Mourinho is already sacrificing virgins to the footy gods.

Arsenal is also through, as are Villarreal, Atletico, Bayern and Liverpool. I think that Liverpool is the most dangerous side in the draw aside from us, but I just can't cheer for that white-clad side to do anything except roast in eternal damnation.

I agree with your last remark, Kxevin. Liverpool is one of the teams you should fear most, although this year they could be somewhat distracted by the EPL. Very solid at the back and Torres up front who could hurt us. But I think we'll feel more comfortable once Madrid is out. On the other hand: that would give Madrid the chance to totally focus on the league, like the last two years...

Lyon has one man: Benzema and he can score out of nothing, so we'll have to take care of that. I remember last year he also came to Barcelona with the hype surrounding him but he didn't touch a ball in the game. But this is the CL and you just cannot relax, one misstep and you're out.

Did you guys watch the draw?

Lyon was drawn first, and the camera showed Lyon representatives... and then the speaker announces FC Barcelona... and Lyon reps are like "Oh no", lol.

If you can also draw Porto or Panathinaikos and you play against Barcelona, I would also go a little crazy. Last year they had Man United in the 1/8 finals...

although a bit difficult I'd like to watch Madrid through, that will 1)suck more of thier fuel tank,
2)hush the EPL suremacy rubish, and 3) we may have to face them later on and see another 2 CL classico clashes, that would be "total demolishion" :). they have some time to recover, but again its difficult.

Do we know who will play against if we win against Lyon? (which I asume we will)

Anonymous said...

No, we don't. And we shouldn't think about it. That's bad karma, man!!!

Hey, I've heard that Lyon's representatives gave an "OMG!!" smile when they were drew to play against us. Would like to watch the video. Any of you here know where can I find it?

Anonymous said...

It wasn't like that. He just shook his head and smiled. It was noticeable because moments earlier in stark contrast when Villareal drew Panathanaikos the Villareal representative had a huge smile on his face.
