Barcelona puts price tag on Toure

Turin sports paper Tuttosport claims that Barcelona has put a price tag on Barcelona defensive midfielder and Ivory Coast international Yaya Touré (25), who should cost at least 10 million euro°.

Touré wants to leave and Barcelona could now have accepted to let the player go in the January transfer window. Juventus would be planning to make a bid, while Inter Milan, Olympique Lyon and an English Premier League club are also interested.

Asked about the rumours linking him with a winter move to Juventus (read more here), Touré has said to journalists that he cannot comment on the issue now.

As first (what I'm constantly reiterating), buying Keita (Hleb too) was totally unnecessary.
Keita is good player, but his top team could only be a club like Sevilla, Monaco or Porto (for example). BTW, he's almost 29.
And now, having 3 DM it's obvious that one of them have to be offload. Unfortunately, it's Yaya, best of the DMs.

Regarding price, I'd ask for 12-15M. Everything over that amount will be "mission impossible" to get.

Tuttosport, what a joke.

LIES LIES LIES!

Juventus also wanted Keita this summer, so I prefer selling them him.

NOOOOOOOO! PLEASE DONT SELL HIM! HE IS LIKE THE BEST DM IN THE WORLD! BESIDE THAT HE IS SO MODEST SO COOL AND A REAL TEAM PLAYER! I WILL LOSE FAITH IN BARCA BOARD AND COACH IF THEY SELL HIM!

IF and IF these stories are true, cos u cant b'lve eveything the press writes, then some Barca fans would be please while some of us wouldnt be happy about his departure. But as I have said before, I hope we dont regret the choices we make as a team.
And I said we would sell him for peanuts cos we are constantly showing we dont see him in our starting XI, but smeone here disagreed. So IF and only IF this is true we are selling him for £7.9Mil... thats jokes!!! God help Barca. I wish all us all the best still

"No comment at this time" is the wrong thing to say in this situation. It would bum me out to see Yaya not in the colors, but if he does in fact want to leave, best wishes in your new home, until you visit the Camp Nou.

10 million sounds about right (slightly on the low side) in today's market for DMs, unless you're talking about a Vieira or some such. DMs are like schoolteachers in that they are rarely paid at a rate commensurate with their value to a side.

Dinao, no club can stop a player's wanting to leave. Every player is self interested, and will do what is necessary to keep their career healthy and thriving, even Yaya.

I still can't believe all of this, and I would much rather have heard Yaya say "My agent spoke out of turn. I am happy in Barcelona and would, as any proud player, like more playing time," which is essentially what he said in the comments that were posted by Pep last month.

Even if this isn't true, it hasn't been handled properly by Yaya and his agent. You just don't do this stuff in the press, as it actively rips at Guardiola's rotation ideas and policies. Henry's comments (also on this blog) are more like what a true team player says, in my opinion.

And "being a team player" doesn't just mean shedding blood for the side. Off the pitch, a player can't let stuff happen that is damaging to team unity and atmosphere.

But again, Yaya has the right to be self-interested, and seek the best situation.

He said he "couldn't" comment on it but it was more like suggesting that there were some kind of guidelines by the national team coach (the association?) not to comment on club issues (or something like that). I'm sure we'll hear more about it soon.

His agent's comments on the other hand were quite clear and he defintely opened the door for an exit. Could be some strategy but still...
