Just a correction, Pep. The Offside's rating for Puyol was 5, not 8.

Chaged that little mistype, Kxevin, thanks.

With two goals against us i see it really hard to give anyone in the defence that high remarks. Offside, as usual, give ridiculous points. Pique 9? Alves 8? Abidal 7? Don't think so.

Peter, Alves has a role that is more than defender. He had the one error (sloppy marking) that resulted in the goal. His play before and after that, in particular being responsible for the tying and go-ahead goals, was huge. Huge.

Abidal was as solid as ever. His most glaring error was getting caught out by the lob pass, but the defense had shifted to cover for the roaming Alves, so he was playing center at that point. He got back in time to narrow the window for the cross. Puyol should have been marking his man better.

Pique was exceptional, his best match in the colors. Even his passes out of the back were sharp and precise, rather than their usual weaks state.

The points are all justified, and earned. The first goal was on Busquets and Alves, the second was on Puyol, which was why he fell to the pitch in shame. He knows that 9.9 out of 10 times, he intercepts that cross easily.

Are there times when the entire defense is culpable for a goal? You bet. The Maniche goal in the Copa tie was one example. Nobody marked anything. In this case, it's a shutout if Alves and Busquets cover better, and Puyol is his usual self.

Didn't happen, though.

Hope that clears things up for you.

Kxevin, for the lob pass that i think u are talking about Abidal was on the same side failed to close down the space. To be fair he had to cover 2 men, one drew him further back while the other moved inwards to lob to Pandiani. The problem was that there was no cover from midfield but Abidal was shaky throughout the game, attacks being predominately from his flank n this game only proves the point that Abidal cant be used to support the attack as it he is unable to play the dual role. Busquets was also poor and Kieta was sucked into the centre so I think the defensive half of midfield also did a poor job.

Agreed on Busquets and Keita, Kamikaze. Both started like gangbusters, however. This was a match for Yaya. Putting Busquets in was like sending (as I said in my review) a ballerina to a breakdancing competition.

Busquets is excellent with a foundation. Keita ain't it.
