Henrique to return and Caceres to leave on loan

Madrid sports tabloid Marca claims that Barcelona is thinking about loaning out Barcelona defender and Uruguay international Martín Cáceres (21) next season.

Because Cáceres has difficulties adapting to the club, Barcelona started considering a loan exit a few weeks ago and the recent performances of the defender have strengthened the idea. Only a radical change could make Cáceres stay next season.

Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain would on the other hand plan to bring back Bayer Leverkusen central defender and Barcelona loan out Henrique (22), whom Barcelona bought last summer and who is performing well in Germany (read more here).

i THINK Cáceres IS A VERY GOOD DEFENDER AND THAT WE SHOULD LOAN HIM OUT TO GET MORE experience

He's been very good whenever he played as a LB. Terrible in the centre though.

Needs to get some games and confidence back into his game. A loan in spain may do him well. I dont think he has been too bad, made a couple errors here and there but he is still learning. Defintely one for the future as opposed to now

yeah I'd be in favour of keeping Henrique for next season and loaning out Cáceres to a Spanish team. Preferably a team that would come around a 4th-7th spot in the league.

I agree. Loan him to a Spanish team like maybe Villareal.

Not a bad thing. What Caceres needs is consistent playing time and confidence. It's difficult for a young defender to get the feel of a game and a league playing intermittently.

Plus I'll be very curious to see Henrique in action.

The thing is that Caceres already had consistent playing time and confidence last season playing with Recreativo. So it all seems very strange to me what is happening now, it's not as if he still had to adapt to the Liga...

I believe Henrique should stay another year with leverkusen... too improve his game even more, and come when he has a chance to occupy the "Elderly" defenders' position.

Caceres is still a mistery to me.
You can see he has the talent and although im impressed by him, it's obvious he can play much better...
look at pedro, busquets or even hleb, they too don't play as much as their skills should provide them, but still when they do they play as if they played regularly all season. maybe a loan is what he needs... but only if milito fully recovers

Its normal for talented young players to be spotted early and bought early. However when they come to a club like Barca they soon find that the standards and the expectations are much higher. For defenders the criterion is a lot stricter as a single error can prove costly. I think Caceres has to learn that when he plays for a club like Barca the most important thing is that he should be consistent and not make any errors AT ALL. At other clubs it might be ok if he makes one or two mistakes in a game but then redeems himself with a goalline clearance or a spectacular last ditch tackle. I think in general its a good idea for Barca to buy defenders young and then loan them out until they gain the required experience and prove themselves to be both consistent and reliable.
