Barcelona will sign left back next summer

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona plans to sign a left back defender next summer.

The contract of Barcelona left back defender Sylvinho (34) expires at the end of the season and because of his age, it's unlikely that the Brazilian will be offered another renewal.

To replace Sylvinho, Barcelona would like to sign a left back defender who has a more attacking style than Abidal and who could act more like Alves is doing this season on the right wing.

The paper claims that an exit of Barcelona left back defender and French international Eric Abidal (29) is also not totally excluded (read more here). If Barcelona doesn't ask an excessive transfer fee, French champions Olympique Lyon would be interested to resign Abidal next summer (read more here).

I would prefer Zhirkov over Vargas.

Fabio da Silva of Man Utd? He is young and seems to fit the description of an attacking left back.

Abidal should stay as standard left back cuz when Alves play a game, for counterattacks there is 3 player in front abidal puyol marquez. Doesnt need to be two players on the pitch like alves.

Zhirkov and Vargas would both take a non EU spot. How many would that leave us with? If we are also to go after KUN, he would take up another spot also. Gareth Bale isn't a bad option but Tottenham won't sell him on the cheap and he is very injury prone.
