British newspaper The Guardian claims that Barcelona has expressed an interest in Manchester United forward and Argentine international Carlos Tévez (24).
Tévez, whose rights are owned by investment fund Media Sports Investments (MSI), is playing on loan with Manchester United since the summer of 2007.
The English Premier League club has the option to buy Tévez in January for 37 million euro° but it's uncertain if the Champions League winners are ready to put down the money.

37 million euro =
46 million us dollar
30 million british pound
hell no! not for that money.. am very sorry. I like him, his style and work rate but not £30M.
Tevez has already reach his peak or probably on his downward trend. He is a good player but not excellent. He is a very hardworking player but has limited talents.
37M is too much for him. Perhaps, 15-20M is reasonable for him. Anyway, he is not suitable for barcelona. He will only be on the bench.
can't imagine that we would actually be interested in him; i wouldn't take him for half that price. and i trust English papers to deliver news about the Spanish league about as much i trust Italian papers to deliver news about anything football-related at all.
Lavezzi is better than Tevez! Lavezzi is the BEAST!
BA: this news is of course as "English" as "Spanish"... ;)
Think it's very unlikely to happen. But the clause is the Man United clause that was agreed last year. If they don't pay that, then other teams can bid with the price probably dropping at that moment. I don't see him play in our 4-3-3, so don't think it's really the player we're looking for.
I disagree with most comments here.
i saw tevez in his earlier career in argentina and brazil, and he showed his talent there.
i think he doesnt fit the EPL as he is not the small hardworking attacking midfielder neither a strong aggressive forward, but rather a mixture of both.
I can see him play much better in La Liga or Ligue 1...
I actually belive that he has the abillities to play at a top european club like barca but his mentality is questionable, and im not sure if he can adapt to the barcelona team.
he is worth at least 20m euros but 30m at most.
if we can get him for less i wouldn't mind, next season of course :)
That cut on his neck scares me, he looks like a mafia boss or something, will probably kill all the Barça players if he gets here.
Tévez has a distinctive burn mark from his right ear, down his neck to his chest which was caused by an accident with boiling water when he was a child. This caused third-degree burns to the right side of his face, neck and chest and left him in intensive care for almost two months. Today, the scars are a highly visible feature of Tévez, who did not get them fixed because he was playing in a junior football team. He refused an offer from his then club, Boca Juniors, to have them cosmetically improved, saying that the scars were a part of who he was in the past and who he is today.

I think this guy is much better than he showed already.
Two comments:
1) Even if Tevez wanted to join another team in January, he would be unable to move because his contract at United forbids it.
2) I think our "interest" is just to drive up the price for Tevez as RM is desperate to get some frontline help now.
I was thinking about the strikers which will be available this summer and I came out with those:
Cruz: pissed of Mourino’s behavior
Adriano: see above
Crispo: no longer needed
Teves: still hanging with no enough playing time
Arshavin: known causes
Mario Gomes: and today he said that he is dreaming of barca
Gomes may be the only available player who didn’t participate in CL!
the one who has a high potenial to succeed in la liga is Teves, and to a lesser extent Arshevin,
Crespo and Cruz, are old and are injury prone.
Adriono have some years ahead of him, but he is unpredictable and moody.
Gomes is having a great days in Germany, but will he replicate his succes in spain? no one can tell.
do we need any of them to come in the winter? unless something unfortunate happens, non of them will be needed. but we can practice our right in making the things more difficult on the market for others!!
@ bojan_mkd
I agree.. Lavezzi is one of the best Calcio strikers this season so far reat physical and a remarkable number of assists also.
two more names in the calcio are having a great season,
Diego Milito and Amauri.
I agree with both Cali Socis and waleed, I don't think we are dispirit to buy, its understandable that fans get excited when transfer period approach, but it has to be a very promising signing for Barcelona to make them enter the market.
And for waleed, i think the crespo option come if we needed a short term solution for the "striker in box" and only if one of our players left in January, then we need a cover till summer when the promising targets could be bought, or else no need to splash the cash in January.
One special case could be the Keeper, we don't need one urgently, but if Asenjo proved good for the long term - that need scouting to be known for sure rather than watching one or two games on TV - if he is good then may be sending one of our back up keepers plus cash (even if it means the minimal release clause) to Valladolid and getting him now can rescue us from a bidding war in the summer, and will make us test what kind of back ups we will have for valdes next season through monitoring him in training daily and in the games when possible.
Whoever said Tevez is past his prime is crazy! He is only 24 and still has plenty of time left to grow and develop further. I don't see us signing him but I have really began to like the guy and his work ethic and somehow is staying as positive as he can with Berbatov taking his job. Hopefully he goes somewhere that he can showcase his talent.
Well i wouldnt be that disappointed if we sign him JJ (not before summer of course), its unlikely happening, but i have been following this guy since long enough to know that he can actually make an impact, the problem in Man UTD is that Roni is a God, and Berba complete roni while tevez compete with him.
Keep in mind that this guy can play in the box, and on the wings, his work rate and runs cause nightmares for defense and for a team like barcelona who defend high, u need the players who scare ur opponent defenders so they blow the ball nonsense rather than playing long dropped balls behind your defense, that will also limit the opp0onent team opportunities to build up for a counter attack, our big concern
I am not saying he will come, but i will be happy to have a player with this profile.
Tevez attracted my attention first when he was playing for westham when he was one main reason behind escaping going down into the second devision, although he is a bit short but he got a great physical presence, "Fregie likes this kind of powerfull attackers, Rooney has the same body buiding deign, which is difficult to stop thier runs, you can pull thier shirts, push, kick do whatever you can do, you can't stom them, Lavezzi also belongs to that kind of players .
if you want to know what i mean look at Bojan! or even Messi, two years ago
Tevez has a work rate unlike I've ever seen before with such a technically gifted player. I'd be excited by the prospect of having him on our team, though I'm not too sure we should go for him.
I was wondering though, if Man Utd decided not to buy him, would we be able to get him on a loan contract just as Man U did? Would be an excellent deal imo.
