Gai could soon make first team debut

Spanish news agency EFE claims that Barcelona Atlètic wing attacker and Israel youth international Gai Assulin (17) could soon get the chance to make his debut with the first team.

Because he's a non-EU citizen, it is for Gai at this moment impossible to play with the first team and then return to the B-team afterwards. Gai is expected to receive the Spanish nationality soon, which will enable him to play wiht the first team, while still being able to play with Barcelona Atlètic after that.

Barelona manager Josep Guardiola told yesterday at a press conference that he couldn't include Gai in the match list for the Spanish cup game against Benidorm today because he only can play with Barcelona Atlètic since he's a non-EU citizen.

Seems to me that La Liga has a set of very strange rules which is more a burden to the clubs than a help. Someone have to look in to this soon! It's the same thing whith the rules that does'nt allow clubs to sign proffesional contracts whith the youngsters and premier leauge-clubs can just steal them away!

Every country od EU have some kind of these rules... In England you cant bring in player outside of EU if he hasnt played 75% of international games for country for 2 years, in Italy you can buy only 1 non-EU player per season... In Spain teams can have I think 3 or 4 non-EU players in their teams, and player after 5 years in Spain gets Spain nationality etc...
Anyway next season Gai will surely be part of the first team, he deserve it...
