Naples regional newspaper Corriere del Mezzogiorno claims that Barcelona is interested in Napoli central defender and Italian (youth) international Fabiano Santacroce (22).
Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola would see Santacroce as the successor of Barcelona central defender and captain Carles Puyol and would have personally contacted Giovanni Branchini, the agent of the Brazil-born defender, to talk about a transfer.
While Napoli officials say that Santacroce is not for sale, Barcelona would be preparing to launch a bid of 13 million euro° soon. The player will be offered a year salary of 3 million euro. Santacroce signed for Napoli in January of this year and has a contract until the summer of 2012.

better give the amount of his salary to busquets, he prove his worthiness. but never seen him playing before
Oh God .. Another Center Back ?! WHY?! Even if Puyol is getting Old, we have Marquez, Milito, Pique, Caceres, and Henrique waiting to come in. Stop this crazy Center Back raid, and start looking for a decent left back or left winger !!
I think they want to buy him now and send him of on a loan or something, they know he's a talent and don't want other clubs touching him.
Marquez and Sylvinho will probably leave the club next summer.
I think they are doing a good job Barça but they should look after a good young left back so he can adapt to Barças style and then take Abidal's place.
And we have to face that Puyol is going to leave us soon =/
Barça should buy:
one left back to replace Sylvinho
one center back to replace Marquez
one keeper (asenjo) to replace Jorquerra and or pinto.
One striker to replace Henry
Maybe one midfielder to replace Keita or Toure.
I am a big Napoli fan (after Barca, of course), and I'll tell you guys now the Santacroce is brilliant. The only problem is that he seems pretty loyal to Napoli, and he'd be hard to prise away.
I don't think we need new signings as we have a complete squad and good subs too except for a good backup goalie. The problem we desperately need a left winger turned out we have the best one right now. With our young talents developing greatly, we better give them more chance of playtime rather than waste our money seeking expensive stars. Though we don't know what Guardiola has in mind and he knows best. And I believe in him. vica el barca!
Our first priority should be a first team Goalkeeper.Valdes should be on the bench, he's no first team material....
Good player but guess we have enough centre backs for the future already. Maybe not this kind of strong guy though.
