Still no agreement on Deco transfer fee

British tabloid The Mail on Sunday claims that Barcelona and Chelsea have yet to agree on the fee for the transfer of Barcelona midfielder and Portuguese international Deco (30), who has already agreed personal terms with the English Premier League club.

Barcelona would be holding on to a 20 million euro° fee, which is deemed axcessive by Chelsea. The arrival of new Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari in London next week should nevertheless coincide with the deal on Deco being completed.

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo meanwhile claims that there are only some details left for an agreement between the two clubs to be reached. The transfer should be announced later this week. Barcelona would receive a transfer fee of 10 million euro°.

Sack the board now. What the hell, only 10 millions? Pathetic.

how much were we ever going to get for after publicly announcing we dont want him.. a 30 year old with a reputation for unsettling teams and unprofessional behaviour?!!!!!!! The mistake the board made was to publicly declare it.. 10 million is not that bad.. he was never going to go for 20

Whatever we say, 10M € is still a good price for a 31-y.o. with poor season (at least on a club level) behind him. He should be grated for everything that he has done for Barca and be remembered as one of the world's best midfielders in his peak. The thing that remains unclear is his successor. I would very much like the tall and physical player with technical ability suitable to Barca, with good long-range shoot and enough pace. Passing skill is a must-have characteristic for midfield position. The problem is that, at a given time, i don't see such player at all. Any suggestions? Aquilani (bound to Roma)... ?

In fact, when i think a little bit, i could come up with few names. Lampard would fit in here perfectly but his age / price ratio is at least questionable, besides, chances are that he will remain in Chelsea. Dream signing would be Gerrard since he posses all the characteristics + excellent leadership skill + huge experience. But i can't even imagine Liverpool letting him go, no matter the price. Maybe we should turn to a prospect on this one and sign Marek Hamsik from Napoli but that is also not so easy task. However, if a club like Barca is proposing anything could happen. In any case, i seriously doubt he can be bought for anything below 25M €. Any opinions?

Eye...I agree with u that the options r not really good to replace the "ex-complete" midfielder barca had in deco, and I have to admit that I am not even convinced that lampard can fit to the bill, not only because he is old, but also because he lack some crucial attributes for any player to succeed in spain, skills and techniques are just an example..some people may say that those factors r not a must for every player, and thats true, but for a midfielder to play in spain with barcelona, technical skill is as important as having(no offense) two legs,He has some skills on the ball that will make him a legend in england, but for spain what he has is just shooting power and physical presence(which sometimes turn to b a curse on the player who come to spain).
I believe having the combination of toure, keita, xavi and iniesta, with the introduction of some of young talents from barca B (which will b more exciting for me than buying an average player), all may help so barca don't really miss Deco "a lot".
One of the players that can fit the bill if buying a substitute is a must, will b pirlo, who is a possibility if milan wanted ito or (still hope not)ronaldihno, but again, do pirlo still have the passion and hunger?thats another question.
Maxi rodrigez(not sure of spelling)-injury pron, Hamsik -Unlikely possible, Moutinho-lack of experience, are all out or barca orbit for various reason. Hleb-not even close to deco defensively at least, but he seems to be their decided option, hernandez is a player i had no chance to c so i cant tell...
one weird option would be the young German Schweinsteiger, who play wide, but i believe he has "it" to excel as a midfielder and we have seen a sample in few games in euro, being a combination of tactical maturity, strength and reasonable techniques make him a realistic option for me.
