Interesting article from the English newspaper The Times about two of the candidates to fill up the gap that the probable exit of Ronaldinho will leave on Barcelona's left wing.
Scouting report:
Silva (Spain) v Arshavin (Russia)
by Oliver Kay - times online
DAVID SILVA (Spain)
Verdict: At the top of his game
Can any club directors have enjoyed this tournament more than those at Valencia? Not only has David Villa, their star forward, emerged as the competition's leading goalscorer - albeit in severe danger of missing the final after picking up an injury in the first half last night - but Silva, his clubmate, has had a huge impact as part of this talented Spainish team. Valued at approximately £20 million (Villa) and £15m (Silva) respectively at the start of the tournament, they are likely to have asking prices in the region of £30m and £25m now.
Silva is a wonderful player, ostensibly operating on the left-hand side of midfield but, like so many of this Spain team, comfortable whenever and wherever he has the ball. Andres Iniesta and Francesc Fabregas, the substitute, were no less impressive last night, but Silva's impact on this tournament, after a difficult season at Valencia will have the rest of Europe sitting up and taking note.
ANDREI ARSHAVIN (Russia)
Verdict: Human after all
There were those who were ready to anoint the Zenit St Petersburg forward as the world's outstanding player after breathtaking performances against Holland in the quarter-final and Sweden in the final group game, but five days later here was a reminder that even the best players cannot turn it on all the time.
Spain gave him little or no space in which to weave his magic and, with Russia left chasing shadows at times against the opposing midfield, Arshavin saw very little of the ball. There was the occasional glimpse of his talent, memorably a superb flick to Roman Pavlyuchenko early in the second half, but this was not his night.
Still appears to be bound for Barcelona - unless of course Roman Abramovich goes all out to entice his fellow Russian to Stamford Bridge - but he will not be taking a European Championship winner's medal with him to the Nou Camp.

Silva is by no doubt a much better player...for me, even if it will not sound popular comment, but for me he is better than ronaldo
if you stop Arshavin, you stop russia
but if you want to stop spain, you had to stop all the midfieders (impossible)
so Silva has is mutch easier
In Barca you had to stop players like MESSI --_--
so an Arshavin will have plenty of space
And i don't like Silva on the left, he's much better on the right, but we have allready the best player on the right
get silva no matter what the cost...If we dont get him we are fuking stupid
Haha, are you guys nuts? Silva isn't even that good. He is so inconsistent during the season. He hasn't even played thaaat good in Euros except for last game. Arshavin can you both feet, he's not like Silva who is scared to touch the ball with his right foot. SOrry but i will be dissapointed if we getSilva.
@deco: Have to agree completely! Hopefully we sign Arshavin soon.
another good thing about: he is 27 already, so he would not stop the development of guys like Gai and so on..
