Manchester United central defender Gerard Piqué (21) has explained in an interview with Catalan sports paper Sport why he left the Barcelona youth academy in the summer of 2004:
"I was playing with Barcelona B in the Spanish third division. Manchester United came to find me and, like some others, I thought that if I would stay, I would spend the next years in the third division. The first team just seemed so far away at that moment."
