Ronald Koeman was not the only member of the Valencia technical staff with a Barcelona history who was dismissed on Monday (read more here). Koeman's assistants Tonny Bruins Slot (61), former assistant of Johan Cruijff, and José Mari Bakero (45), former Barcelona player and assistant, also had to leave together with the head coach.
José Mari Bakero played nine seasons for FC Barcelona, arriving from Real Sociedad in the summer of 1988 and leaving in the summer of 1997 for the Mexican team Veracruz. During that period the Basque midfielder won an impressive number of trophies: four consecutive Spanish league titles between 1991 and 1994, two Spanish cups in 1990 and 1997, four Spanish Super cups in 1991, 1992, 1994 and 1996, one Champions League in 1992, two European Cup Winners' cups in 1989 and 1997 and one European Super cup in 1992.
