No Bayern renewal for Lahm

German club Bayern Munich has announced in a statement on its official website that the talks with Bayern Munich full back Philipp Lahm (24) to renew the player's contract that expires in 2009 have been stopped because the parties could not come to an agreement.

Bayern Munich says that it has cancelled the renewal offer they had previously made to the German international and that Lahm can now leave on a free transfer when the contract ends next year. Philipp Lahm has over the last months several times been rumoured to be one of the main options to replace Barcelona right back defender Gianluca Zambrotta (31), who will most probably return to Italy.

It should mean that we could get him for a lower price. Maybe 10 mil. for Lahm would be a better deal than 30-35 mil. for Alves. I like Alves, but it's like too much?

I think Barca should sign both Lahm and Alves... Alves in right-back and Lahm in left-back because both abidal and zambrotta are not good enough when barca is in attack situation...alves is definitly worth 30 mil because of his power full crosses and free kicks and not only his defense...

Both would be perfect. We would have a good defender and a good attacker on the left and a good back-up for Alves.

But that would be already 40-45 million we're spending on two defenders. With still the need to buy a central defender, a back-up for Touré, a substitute for Deco (?) and a left winger...
