Barcelona makes official statement on Xavi

Barcelona issued today an official statement denying rumours about the situation of Barcelona midfielder Xavi:

"Futbol Club Barcelona denies reports in the press that in recent hours have been claiming that the club was considering the transfer of midfielder Xavi Hernàndez this summer.

Both the technical secretary and the current coaching staff, and with the full support of the Board of Directors, are convinced that Xavi Hernàndez is an essential part of the team’s new project.

There is such a conviction on this issue that the player and club are in discussions regarding the extension of the contract that currently binds the two parties until 30 June 2010.

Having joined the club’s youth system more than a decade ago, Xavi has enjoyed an impeccable career in the first team of FC Barcelona, his football talents are widely recognised and his implication in the club’s project and values are not up for discussion."

Asked about the rumour saying that Barcelona would have be willing to let Xavi go this summer in order to buy Arsenal midfielder Cesc (read more

Ofcourse Xavi stays, every culé loves this guy. Pep has also said that he thinks Xavi is better than he himself was, and since I'm not old enough to have seen Pep play I can't say anything about that statement. But I think Xavi is the best playmaker in the world right now so it would be nothing but insane to sell him.

Excuse my english..?

very few people gave enough credit to xavi when where playing with ronaldinho-eto-messi-deco.most people care about goals, and its true that xavi wouldnt have this recognition now if the coach didnt move him from dm to amc and scoring alot of goals(also euro healped alot too).

i am playing dmc/amc/mc and while i am coordinating the teams play, provide through balls, the guy that scores the goals gets all the attention, but if i miss a game the team crumbles, same with xavi(thank god we have iniesta to cover, and maybe messi),

for me he is the 2nd best player for this team after eto, both players i believe are the best in their position in the world, messi for me is 3rd cause he hasnt settled on a position yet(he wants to play right ,he is at best at right but ,with the system we play when we attack dani alves is there and messi is amc where he cant drible and shoot a diagonial shot(clasic messi move),and the only think he does is through balls for the left wing.

whatever... xavi your the man bring the liga and the cl trophies back in the camp nou
