Vargas (Fiorentina) and Farfan (Schalke) monitored

Asked if Fiorentina left back defender Juan Vargas (24 - picture) and Schalke forward Jefferson Farfán (23) could join Barcelona in the future, Barcelona board member Josep Antón Colomer has suggested in an interview with Peruvian newspaper El Comercio that both Peruvian internationals are amongst the players that Barcelona is monitoring:

"Of course they could play for Barcelona one day. Barcelona has a well-organized scouting system and we are following a lot of players all around the world. The best Peruvian players will always be monitored by the club. There have always been Peruvian players who had the qualities to play for Barcelona."

I would rather like Michael Lumb from danish AGF, for the left back.
Abidal has really been horrible this season and with Behrami gone to west ham, Lumb is an exelent alternative.
Aston Villa, West Ham and Ajax tried for his this summer, but the club refused them.
He can be acquired for 4-5 mil €.

i saw vargas play an international match the other day and he looked really good. defensively he was solid and he was the best attacking player aswell. whether he would suit this new 3 CB covering tactic is another question, but he would definetly stregthen the attacking options on the left.

is farfan any good? i remember a few years ago he was gonna be the next big thing then didnt hear much about him so assumed he didnt live up to the hype, is that fair or does he still ave potential?

Schalke paid 14 million euro, so he must have something... He was really one of the next big things coming, but didn't develop further. He had some mentality problems lately, now it's up to him to return to his old level. Still young enough to do that.

Vargas is a excellent player but it's too late for him. We should have bought him this summer from Catania.
