Valladolid goalkeeper Asenjo monitored

Madrid sports tabloid As claims that Barcelona is keeping an eye on Real Valladolid goalkeeper and Spanish youth international Sergio Asenjo (19), who made his first team debut at the age of 18 last season and is now the first choice.

Asked about the rumours linking the player with several Spanish clubs, Valladolid president Carlos Suárez has said that his club has been trying to renew the contract of the player:

" With performances like the one against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, his price is going up. We're aware of the progress he has been making and that's why we offered him a new contract. We wanted to give him a better contract but at this moment that doesn't seem possible. We'll try again next summer, because now the club and the player are focusing on keeping the team in the primera división."

He's the next big name, the successor of Casillas (it is said).

It's time for FCB to find young&perspective goalkeeper. He's 19 and he has all the time in the world to develop into the one of the best.

As known I am not one of valdes haters, but for his quality and age, I will definitely consider buying him.

I think Asenjo is a good GK and they should buy him and sell Pinto at the end of the season.

I just hope Barca's board has Manuel Neuer in their sights. He is very young and highly rated. Great addition to squad on a position that we lack most.
For those of you watching Barca's younger ranges - how is that Mino guy performing? Any potential? Reflexses, set pieces, height?

i dont know how our youth goalkeepers are doing, but if this guy is good buy him, and loan him out for another 3/4 seasons

I guess by now, anyone reading this blog often enough will realise I am an advocate for the youth. Mino, is great. Isay that because of the potential he has, good height wicked reflexes, havent seen enough clips of him to determine if his positionin is superb as well. I try to use you tube and watch as many barca b team matches i can or any other source. From what ive seen, I believe mino has what it takes. Oier has good positionin but Mino's reflexes and bravery make him slightly better in my view. If I had my way, he would train with the 1st team. The fact that barca is looking at a keeper his age would justify my thinking.
