Quote of the day: Guardiola

I don't know how the players are dealing with the rotations, but they don't have a lot to say anyway.

Josep Guardiola, Barcelona manager

after this words.. i see grate difirence between Rajikard and Pep. Rajikard would say.. "i hope players don't angry one me". I don't wan't to say that he was a bad coach, he is one of the best, but he is to soft... for the team like Barca.

You are right Anony, but it started to become little offending, i would like pepe to be something between what this remark show, and how the previous coach was.

He do whatever he feel it fits the team, with no need to make such kind of comments, if the players reacted passively he can deal with that, but to try to prove he is strong thru saying it all the time may shadow doubts on the fact that he actually is.

The coach don't have to explain himself, thats a principle in football. when you explain yourself, you give the opportunity to be questioned.

He is sounding like a "dictator" now. I dont think he needs to say things like that. This doesnt prove to me he is a strong character. Especially with players like Henry, Sylvinho, Eto, Puyol, (senior team boys)they are not Bojans(starlets). I think they deserve abit of respect from the coach. Its okay to say to them in the dressing room that "I have selected my team and I hope you guys know it for the best of the team". And if you are talking to the press, you need to be careful and say things like Zola of westham said yesterday. " I think its a very difficult part of the job, but i hope they all understand i do it with the teams interest at mind and with all sincererity". To me, Zola's comment made more sense and showed greater respect to the boys. Dictatorship is not the way forward but mutual respect. enuff said.

Only time will tell is his behaviour for the good of the club.
I think that Guardiola has a strong character and these words are nothing of surprise.

Més que un club!!!

There was irony in the quote, I think (towards the journalists who are trying as always to stir things up). So nothing to worry about.

As I said over on The Offside, my view of what Guardiola means is "I have, long-term, the best interests of this team deep in my heart, and I will make any moves that I think will help those interests. So if you are sitting, it's for a damn good reason, that I don't always need to explain to you."

It's kind of old-school, and refreshing. A coach has to be a coach.

The great coaches in any sport have always respected, but ruled their players. Wenger, Mourinho, Ferguson, Belichick, Jackson, Riley. All won championships, and they won them by being coaches, not schoolmoms. Anyone can coach when everyone is playing great and the wins are coming. Making the decisions that keep those wins coming is where feathers might get ruffled.

And I think that anyone who isn't down with that program will be on the bus out of town.

For instance, who ever imagined a time when Puyol wouldn't be in the automatic starting XI? Note the Puyol comment in the EMD interivew:

"In my case, the coach made a decision and I accept that."

Exactly.

p.s. Pep, very cool the way the new window pops up now for comments.
