Barcelona has officially announced today that the first team squad has made a decision on the team captains for this season.
Central defender Carles Puyol (30), midfielder Xavi (28), goalkeeper Víctor Valdés (26) and attacker Andrés Iniesta (24) will act, in that order of preference, as captains.
Xavi replaces Ronaldinho as second captain, Valdés has been appointed as third captain and Iniesta completes the quartet. Spanish news agency EFE claims that forward Samuel Eto'o (27), defender Rafael Márquez (29), attacker Lionel Messi (21) and goalkeeper Albert Jorquera (29) will assist the captains if that would be needed.
Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola revealed the choices at a press conference earlier today: "Carles Puyol has told me that they have decided who the four captains will be. It's good news and I'm satisfied that there were a lot of players that wanted to lend a hand. I have stayed out of the matter, but I am very happy that everybody wanted to get involved because all together they are able to sort out any problems that could arise."

Dont mean to rain on the party but i would have preferred iniesta above valdes in terms of order.
check out the arms on Puyol... who knew he was such a beast?
It's maybe a little "too" catalan. Eto'o between the four would have been nice.
