Quote of the day: Messi

The Gijon fans were impressive. We went 1-6 ahead and they continued to encourage and support their team. They're an example to the fans of all teams.

Lionel Messi, Barcelona player

Deffinitly. And i realize why he is saying so cause everytime barca loses even if it is a single game every barca fan talks about crisis and shit like that. I read some coments here during the game against sporting gijon when barca conceded a goal, they were complaining about defence and so on. Cmon ppl thats football u score u concede so what it is not possible not to concede a single goal what the hell are those fans thinking they should try to be realistic. thats not playstation this is the real world. Deffence is okay everything is just good. Just some luck during tough games and we will win some trophy this year, hopefully a major one.

I knew from skysports that Kameni has some problem in extendng contract with Espanyol. His current contract will expire at the end of this season. It should be a good oppurtunity to sign this keeper to create competition at the post in Barca.

Kameni's performance during these years in la liga has been quite impressive, especially during the derby matches with Barca. In those matches, Barca almost always had difficulty in scoring in spite of the poor performance from Espanyol defence. This was even true when Barca was at its best year. Besides, he is also younger and taller than valdes (Kameni:24y,188cm; Valdes:26y,183cm). There is still a lot of room to improve. He has the potential.

Therefore, Barca should sign Kameni.

i agree with messi those fans were absolutely amazing. when we scored the 5th goal they did not drop one decibel from the chant they were making and they then got louder!

that is what football is all about, the nou camp should take note. alot of people seem too ready to stick the knife in over the smallest things. ok the situations are a bit different but imagine that was us getting beat 6-1 there would be riots. i'm not questioning some barca fans passion just there application of that passion.

Granche I agree with you.

Granche - I think it's unfair to say that people who are concerned about the defence are not being realistic... the truth is, one goal conceded agaist Sporting is probably equivalent to four by Real. Yes, conceding goals does happen, but Barca is conceding silly goals agaisnt lesser quality teams... I'd say there's at least some cause for concern. Granted, it is the begining of the season and there are some new players, so it may work itself out over time. But, I think anyone who hasn't noticed the lack of concentration in the back, and thinks everything is great, is being a little naive. It will be a completley different story against the likes of Atletico, Villareal, Valencia, Espanyol, Real, Sevilla, etc.

just dont forget gijon scored three times against sevilla so they are capable of scoring. anyway i aint no naive im just realistic mike, cheers mate .

I dont blame him for saying that. I bet he got sick of seeing white papers and Hanky's everytime we conceed a goal or two.

is it me or did the ref took it really easy on us?

The Madrid papers didn't complain about the referee (nor did the Sporting coach), so I didn't see a problem there.
