Summer talks with Juventus striker Amauri

Asked about the transfer of Brazilian striker Amauri (28) from Palermo to Juventus last summer, the player's agent Vittorio Grimaldi has said in an interview with Roma football site La Roma Siamo Noi that he also talked with Barcelona about a transfer this summer:

"First, we were talking with AS Roma, which was our first choice. The player was very happy about the possibility, both Roma manager Spalletti and Roma sports director Pradè really wanted him and I live close to Rome.

The problem was that they wanted him as back-up for Totti, so we put the option on hold and started negotiations with other clubs. I have talked with Chelsea, Milan, Real Madrid and Barcelona. I wanted to know how much they wanted to pay him. The plan was to then ask Roma the average. But then Pradè called me to say that Palermo was asking 25 million euro° and that this was too much for his club. Inter was also interested but later Juventus joined in and he signed for them."

well, I'll say it kxevin's way..
"call me crazy" but as I see it, we were looking for a big, powerfull striker and he was there among us all the time, to be specific, warming the bench ,
I suppose you all knew him.. yes, the ice man.. Gudi!! the most underrated player in barcelona, but with Pep, no more underratings,
with 185 cm, and good physical presence, he could make a great work in the new system, and although it's too early for stats. here are some "and here I'm speaking about La liga" only:
Eto'o: 5 goals in 5 matches from 18 shots.
Messi:5 goals in 5 matches from 30 shots!
Henry: 2 goals in 3 matches from 10 shots.
Gudjohnsen: 2 goals in 2 matches from 6 shots!!
and I mean by matches "startings"
and he did that while playing as a MF trying to get into his form after almost 2 seasons on the bench. I think Pep do believe in him and that will help him to shine once again.
and guess what.. he is even younger than Titi!! :)
lets wait and see..

Absolutely agree, the most underrated, under used and still loyal to the cause. Gudi was a success when utilised as a big powerful striker in the EPL, and although he won't always be used in the obviously different Primera, we don't need to be spending 25 million and upwards to by a player for a role that we already have the staff for.
