Guardiola wants Aguero

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Atlético Madrid forward and Argentinian international Sergio 'Kun' Agüero (20) is on top of Barcelona's transfer list for next summer.

Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola would want Agüero as centre forward and Barcelona prefers him over Olympique Lyon forward and French international Karim Benzema (20) because the latter doesn't have a buyout clause which would make a transfer more difficult.

Atlético Madrid would have accepted the fact that Aqüero will leave next summer. Several clubs, amongst which Barcelona, Manchester City and Inter Milan, would be ready to pay his buyout clause of 60 million euro° and Atlético isn't able to match the salary those clubs can offer the Argentinian.

Barcelona would be considering to include a player in the operation to lower the transfer fee.

Great player, would be nice if we get him. But i dont think we need him atm, we have Eto'o as central forward, with Bojan/Henry as backup. On the left side we have Iniesta with Henry as backup. On the Right we have Messi with Pedro/Hleb as backup. Only if an attacker leave we should buy him. I think Eto'o is better because he is alot stronger and bigger. Hes too small to become part of our team we already have a lot of players who arent bigger then 1.70 M.

So we're ginally going to get rid of Henry. But what would this mean for Eto'o?

Ramzi said...

I think its more a media talk, this is not the kind of strikers pep is looking for, if Barcelona has the well to pay big then they can go for Ibrahimovic, its not easy to get him but inter is not a club that don't sell no matter what, as history tell.
Aguero is great, but short, he will end up playing as a wing, and thats not a priority for now.
I think its all media talk now, may be even Barcelona board play a part to throw such rumor, it help negotiating to get Benzema when you rumor that you have another options, but still too early to start such kind of games, so i say its another rumor, not more.

what da f* "E" talking about!?! Remember Romario, Maradona, and now Messi! Aguero is great for Barca! We just, must sell Henry! Aguero could play in center, Eto'o on the right, or they can change in game with possitions. AGUERO MUST BE A FC BARCELONA PLAYER!!!

Easy guys wait till summer!!!+!
I think Henry should go [:-(((]with sylvinho, gudi, pinto, milito, abidal.

We sould buy: a Lb lahm or someone ,am(diego),aguero, and di maria thats all.

But Diego is not necesarry
First option is a LB,di maria and aguero.

eto'o stronger??? have you ever seen aguero play?? he is an animal.
Eto'o is certainly not getting better, aguero is the coming man. I would sell eto'o and get kun aguero. no doubt in my mind.

I think we all just saw them both play. Of course there are atm a big lvl different on Barca vs Athletico madrid, but Eto'o is on a spree right now. So don't say he isn't getting better.

I agree in Ramzi's comment. We don't need small fast attackers. We have Bojan for the future with that qualities. No doubt that El Kun is one of the best on his position atm, but Eto'o can certaintly play on this lvl for another 3-4 years.

And El Kun is as Ramzi says not the attacker Guardiola is looking for. In the preseason they tried to launch Adebayor/Drogba. He wants a type like those 2. A stronger and taller attacker.

As a final comment, it is not like football manager where you can have the 2-3 best players in the world for every position. It will demand a unrealistic rotation system. So lets see what happpens in the winter window or probably first in the summer window.

I don't really think selling Eto'o is a solution. He's proven; i mean regardless of what we think, he scores. he's finding his rhythm(8 goals in ten games...penalties still build confidence). Henry stills needs a little time [we at least owe him that with all the bashing we've (yes i said we've) been giving him]. By the way guys can't we just give the team some time. All these additions we want. I think the most important player for us in the near future is a striker (a big one). everything else we produce. All i would like the team to do is build a tight, un breakable unit where if you don't play you work your butt off to get your position back. too many sourpusses out there. What happened to credibility. Too much money out there now. Nobody wants to work.I'll stop now, I'm becoming like Ramzi...it's a joke guys:)

"Eto'o is certainly not getting better, aguero is the coming man. I would sell eto'o and get kun aguero. no doubt in my mind."
--@jordy-anonymous:Man, are you fucking blind? I didn't see Aguero scoring last game. Anybody else? I saw Eto'o scoring penalty, and second one was real masterpiece.

I wouldn't go for Aguero. It's simple, he's very expensive and who will Barca give to them to reduce a fee? Marquez? I don't want that scenario. Marquez is one of Barca's best defenders this year.

Talking about Aguero, it's obvious that some of strikers will go, I hope and presume-Henry! Barca should sell him while they can get a good price.
Most probably, Aguero will join his father-in-law (Maradona) at Inter or some of English rich clubs.
FCB should instantly give Eto'o renewal and of course much more chances to Bojan. This boy is rapidly improving and it would be pity not to play him.

@jester: you pissed me off with yours + and ! , but I totally agree with you. Players that should go:
-Henry (due to his age and recent performances)
-Milito (worst defender in the world)
-Gudjohnsen (unnecessary player)
-Sylvinho (due to his age)
-Pinto (FCB need younger goalkeeper)
Players to replace them:
-Henry->Huntelaar (Ajax)
-Milito->no-one FCB have enough def
-Gudjohnsen->Diego (Werder), Moutinho (Sporting)
-Sylvinho->Zhirkov (CSKA) or Capel (Sevilla)--Lahm sucks!
-Pinto->Asenjo (Valladolid)
Di Maria has already agreed terms with Inter.

I don't agree about Abidal-he's great and he showed it against Atletico.

oh yes get him... keep etoo as center striker and let aguero play on the left wing. if you know his qualities you would know that he can play on the left side, too. rotating within the 90 min with messi or eto'o. but we should not forget bojan. barca must boost him

we don't need aguero, we have bojan, and eto'o, and some day gai

HouseMD ok i agree but we don't have money for all the players
I think who should go:
1. henry
2. milito
3. sylvinho
4. guddi
5. pinto

Who should come:
1. aguero
2. di maria
3. diego(if it's possible)

huntelaar because aguero is better or eto'o
di maria did not agreed terms with inter
if we put cáceres for the lb we do not need no players the thoose 2.

"Milito (worst defender in the world)"

That's the dummest comment I've ever read. He is one of the best defenders in the world. Even legendary defender Ayala said that he is his succesor in the national team. VISCA EL MARSHAL!!!

...for me,it's not about height...it's about quality...and aguero has a lot of it...a striker gets assessed by his play, his feeling for the right positioning and of course his goal-scoring-skills...all things that make aguero, for me,the best striker in the world at the moment...also think that it's not barcas style of play to feed strikers with high-played balls for headers from the flanks...they more play one-touch-football over many stages just to find spaces in the defence to surprise the opponent with deep balls to open goal-scoring-chances...and kun showed that he don't need many chances to success...so for me,he's surely one barca should think about with knowing about the fact that he's also well-attuned with messi...he's not good for headers, but has many other qualities that could make him a good choice...he made himself a big-name with atletico and he could surely gets much better with passes from xavi or iniesta that he can turn into goals with his high football-intelligence and feeling for the game...he's the future!!!!!

"HouseMD" did you see espanyol vs barca , where was eto'o? Where was his masterpiece on that 1\1 with goalkeeper?

Anonymous said...

@jester: I agree with you who should go.

Regarding players you want in I partially agree.
You said:
-Aguero (60M)
-Di Maria (30M)
-Diego (around 20-25M).
Count yourself. Mate, it's over 100M, and you said we don't have money for the players from my list. :)
At this moment (I think) FCB don't need any midfielder.
For your 3 players I'd go a bit cheaper:
-Aguero->Huntelaar(20-25M)-but I still think Adebayor would be better (and still cheaper than Aguero-around 35-40M, maybe Yaya could reduce the fee)
-Di Maria->I like him, but Capel(around 15M), and Zhirkov (15-20M) are my choices. Maybe Ribery, but only if FCB offer Hleb+cash for him, Arshavin (17M)
-Diego->definitely yes, extraordinary player. I can't believe no-one bought him last summer.

@Alenardo: that's just MY opinion. You can agree or disagree. I just wasn't impressed with his performances. Just remember CL game vs ManU (1/2 finals) when he played hand in 5th min.. No matter who said something about him, successor or not-that doesn't count.

I wasn't watching the game, so I can't say anything about that. But, if you look closely at Pep's stats you will see who's FCB best striker (+assists).
If he missed 1-on-1, that's happening. What about all those goals he scored for Barca in recent years? That doesn't count or what, Sherlock?
If you're so clever, who'd you buy? Aguero, Benzema...? Giving 60-100M for them? I claim that Eto'o is 10X better than them.

OK I give up but we need aguero/diego

and that is all guys

Visca el Barca!!!+!

I just can't see it happpening. Sport is about as reliable as a geriatric's bladder.

If Aguero comes, we still don't have the "Plan B" offense. Or did anyone not see what happened during Saturday's match? Aguero needs someone to pass him the ball, and he'd better not be man-marked by someone taller and fast, someone like say....Eric Abidal.

There is no denying Aguero's quality. But with Messi and Iniesta on the roster, we already have that kind of player covered.

Put it like this: Does anyone honestly think that Aguero could have scored the goal that Henry scored to finish off the Atletico match? Maybe he scores the Eto'o goal. Maybe.

I think that this summer, Eto'o and Henry are gone. And our strike force is going to be poorer for it. The next question becomes who are the replacements? Pace, strength and guile are difficult to find.

But in my estimation, Aguero isn't the answer to that question. With Messi on the side, a more disciplined striker is required, rather than someone who roams the pitch as Aguero does. Messi does that, and so does Iniesta.

Unfortunately, I'm just not sure about (right now) who the replacements for Henry and Eto'o should be. But there is going to be a lot of turnover again this summer. I could see Sylvinho, Gudjohnsen, Henry, Eto'o, Marquez, possibly Yaya as well. Those are some big shoes to fill.

60 million for one player? That player needs to be a lead-pipe cinch. And remember, the bidding is going to start around 50 million. Man City has a lot of money to throw around.

I just can't see it happening.

Aguero is just more of the same. He wouldn't add anything.

I think Eto'o will stay, so then we should go after someone who can add something like a real (left) winger, who can offer soemthing different there compared with Xavi. Or the tall stronger who is strong with his head and who we can throw in when needed.

Anonymous said...

@Kxevin: I know what you mean, and I think Henry is gone with come summer.

Eto'o will renew, I'm pretty sure.
Anyway, there will be one new striker, Agüero or Benzema.

I don't agree with the bidding war for Agüero, he has a buyout-clause and if he agrees personal terms, he is ours. ManCity could bid 200 Mio., if we're willing to pay his buyout and he wants to join us ManCity (and Atléti) can do nothing against.
Maybe there will be some fight regarding his salary, but not about the transfer fee.
