Brazilian blog Gremio1903 claims that the interest of Barcelona and other European top clubs (read more here) was the main reason for his club to renew the contract of Grêmio midfielder and Brazilian youth international Douglas Costa (18) from the moment the player turned eighteen last month.
Douglas, who scored in his debut for his club's senior team last weekend, signed a new contract that links him to the team from Porto Alegre until 2013. His buyout clause has been raised to 27 million euro°.

Sometimes it's a little bit risky to get some young and unproven player. It would be great to get some of those Brazilian talents, but 27M? It's a huge amount of money. It seems to me that south-Americans are easily going greedy about their players. The same story was last summer about transfer of Hernanes. They asked 10M and when Dunga called him to Beijing suddenly they want 23M.
There seem to be a lot of great midfielders around lately... But we're definetely overbooked already.
Save a dollar per day till summer, add them to the 27 M, and you can get Ribery!
well...not that easy, but still!
One thing for sure is that this Douglas Costa has a good agent, will he be as good as promoted? time will tell, but certainly we don't need to be the ones who do the gamble.
Man United would also want him, says Daily Mail today.

Hi guys. I'm from Brazil and I'm a Gremio fan!
About the starlet Douglas Costa, I just can say to you is that I went to both (and only) 2 games he played and I think it's a bit early to say he is gong to be a STAR, like Ronaldinho or Anderson, former Gremio players.
But I can tell you FOR SURE: he's not a fool, he knows what to do with the ball, and he's an excellente ball handler.
Bye guys!
Thanks for your view, Kiko! Let us know if there are new rumours about Barcelona going around in Brazil.
Ok, Pep!
I'll keep you posted!
That's the news fot today...
This is on The Sun's:

Obrigado, Kiko! That's exactly what I'm looking for (links to the original source) but...
Since the main club mentioned is manchester United, I won't make a post on it. Otherwise we'll have daily a rumour about Man United or Real Madrid or some Italian club but that doesn't really belong on this 'Barcelona' blog.
So if Lance(net) has an article saying "We heard from people from the entourage of Douglas that Barcelona has contacted Gremio" or something like that, then I would be glad if you put the link on this blog, so I can make a post about it.
And you shouldn't put it here because this post is going down and I won't come here, so you can just put it in the comments of a recent post, I'll pick it up there.
Thanks beforehand!
