The picture proves it: he did play! He even touched the ball!!! But we canot say much more on the performance of Arshavin cause he simply was invisible.
Also because Hiddink had ordered him that his main task was to put pressure on Xavi. And he actually did that quite well in the first half. Like the Russian team was very well-organised then.
The game nonetheless totally changed when Villa got injured and Cesc entered. That was the turning point, the Spain midfield took the whole businees over and Russia just didn't find an answer to that. Excellent second period by the Spanish team with some great goals.
Puyol, Xavi and Iniesta all played the whole match. Puyol was again very solid at the back, Xavi and Iniesta had a difficult first half but took part in that great second half of the Spanish midfield, very nice first goal by the two.

Two weeks ago Spain won this game with 4-1. Since then just one thing changed: Arshavin appeared. Will he be able to confirm his good performance against the Netherlands tonight? Who will face Germany in the final? You can comment on the match here.

unfortunately ist rains in vienna at the moment. so i will not buy a ticket in front of the stadium to see arshavin :-(
I think this will be Arshavin's toughest test to date. But let's not forget that Russia's not a one man team. I guess the best way I could put it is that they aren't as bad as they appeared against Spain the first time. But they aren't as good as they showed against Holland. They're probably somewhere in the middle. Spain will have a tougher match no doubt but given their overall talent and experience over the young Russians they should win. I don't think anyone can disagree that if Russia were to win it would be an upset. But it would be a great moment for Russian football. I'm rooting for Spain but should they loose I would be rooting for Russia to beat Germany.
Sure thing Russia is no one man team....but Arshavin will be the biggest dictator for them and a lot will rely on his shoulders....I think that if you just look at the names of the two teams, Spain should have this in the bag....but Russia did beat Nederland...hmmmmmm???? I still say Spain will take this one and win the Euro!! when Spain has the ball i'll root for them but when Arshavin has the ball, I will be looking on with great respect for him and hope that he joins Barca!
Arshavin looks a bit lost today, but the support from midfield is very bad today.
Maybe he is a bit nervous because of the rumours linking him with Barça.
huh does Arshavin really play today ???
I'am seaching for him 90 minutes, but i only see him once. He was walking :(

now, all of you see what arshavin really cost. he was like r10 2007-2008.
Spain play like Barca...
Txiki, Laporta..please, buy Fabregas and Silva for us..no arshavin, no adebayor...no hernandes..just theese two guys/
Complete domination by Spain. They performed a clinic out there against the young, inexperienced Russians. Even though I fully expected Spain to win I am shocked by the score line 3-0. I didn't see any passion or enthusiasm by the Russians. They just seemed bored and uninterested almost as if they seemed satisfied just to make it this far. I wonder what people will be saying about Arshavin now after everyone was crowning him as the potential player of the tournament. To be fair Arshavin wasn't the only one at fault. The whole Russian team just didn't seem to show up.
