Hleb transfer again very close

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that a deal with Arsenal on the transfer of Arsenal midfielder and Belarus international Alexander Hleb (27) is very close.

Barcelona would pay Arsenal a transfer fee of between 18 and 20 million euro°, with a fixed amount and a variable part depending on trophies that are won. The only remaining issue would be the fractionation of the fee.

A four-year deal with Hleb was already agreed upon earlier this year (read more here) and although German champions Bayern Munich would have offered Arsenal 24 million euro, the Belarussian midfielder, whose contract with Arsenal expires next summer, seems to stick to his choice to play in Spain next season.

Catalan sports paper Sport, who said earlier this week that the Hleb option would be closed if Arshavin was transferred and that Hleb anyway was not a priority anymore, now claims that Barcelona could make a 45 million euro° offer for both Hleb and Adebayor (read more
here).

Asked if the arrival of Arshavin would exclude the transfer of Hleb, Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola said at a press conference yesterday that this is not the case: "Good players can always play together and those two are good players."

if we do get arshavin, I don't really think we need both. Still, I'll trust Guardiola with what he does.

Bench player? Seriously, he's better than most people on here seem to give him credit for. Jesus. Nothing earth-shattering, but more than very useful. He does his role very well, from what I've seen, he's highly regardes in one of the best teams in one of the best leagues in the world! He'll do a great job, given a chance. Plus the market's really inflated at the moment, obviously.

Adebayor is a big, quality goal-poaching striker who was very promising last year, and he fits what the team will need, strength and height. He was only behind Ronaldo and Torres in attacking stats last year. Just needs to watch his offsides.

Helb's 6ft too, which we need, he's known for one being one of the best dribblers in the Premiership and it's a fast league. Arsenal fans are gutted to see him go, he's fast footed, makes goals and his passing is gonna be great for us, in my opinion.

The problem is that he don't scores goals. Just another player with no end product. We already have Iniesta, a better player in my opinion, that doesn't scores that much goal either.

Iniesta is a brilliant utility player, I think he's great, but we need some size too. We're a team of midgets right now, going forward at least. We need options, I don't think the squad we have is good enough to choose different teams and different options from. It's more prudent to have a squad from which we can pick different teams from. I just don't think Helb is a bench player, most people seem to so adverse to him when he's better than people are giving him credit for, the price for him is alot but he's valued there too, and he can be a good addition to our team. Of midgets.

Whats all this mean for Xavi and inesta? cause we know the likes of kieta and toure well be utilized cause we need a warrior in the mid-field..but what about xavi and inesta...EURO FINALIST (for now)... Barca's eyes are too big.. we have a great team no matter how you cut it to me..and mind you I know little about any other teams players except barca so this is no dis-respect to any player they claim their seeking out. I just am a fan of the way things were..not numbers but team members..and im a firm believer that the problem was not the attacking players..it was the back 4 looking a bit in-decisive at time and hasty..and a lil strength in the mid-field as in power and body.. we scored goals when we needed to..we got SCORED ON when we couldn't afford to..

Barcelona is just throwing money out the window as if it were beads at a Mardi Gras! For the combined money that they are proposing spending on Hleb and Arshavin, Barcelona should sign Silva instead who is 5yrs. YOUNGER than Arshavin, AND and a natural winger, AND the club would still have 5-10mil left over!

Take that 5-10 that you just saved, add another 20mil to it and offer it to Ajax for Huntelaar and forget about Adebayor! He wants to go to Milan anyway. Let them overpay for him.
