Deco agrees personal terms with Chelsea

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona midfielder and Portuguese international Deco (30) has chosen to join Chelsea and not Inter and that the player has already agreed personal terms with the English Premier League club.

Deco will sign a three-year contract worth 6 million euro net a year, which is 1,5 million euro more than what he is currently earning in Barcelona. With Barcelona asking 20 million euro° and Chelsea not wanting to pay more than 10 million euro°, a deal between the clubs nevertheless doesn't seem close.

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo, who says that the presence of Scolari has been decisive in Deco's choice, claims that the transfer of Deco was the main issue during a meeting between Barcelona sports vice president Marc Ingla and Chelsea officials in London on Friday.

The English club made clear that they would like to sign the player but not for a 20 million euro transfer fee, which they want to see seriously reduced (read more here). The paper claims that Barcelona and Deco had also agreed before that the Brazilian-born Portuguese could leave for a lower fee.

Its sad how players behave to Barca. They pressure the club to reduce their price to get more wage cash. Deco even wanted free transfer, what a wanker. Last year it was the same with for example Motta.

Deco was the best Portugal player on the Euro so why not 20M? He is deffinately more worth then Keita.

yes!!!u r right.i said it here before that barca paid a lot for players and sell for small amount. Some people start to defend the board to their detriment.
When barca want to buy a player, the price jump up immediately and even we were forced to pay the buy out clause. Why can't other team pay for our players at a reasonable price.I mean Deco is still a good player,if not because of no motivation i would prefer him to stay.ok,i know he is like 30 but at least he still have 4 years of top flight.Honestly is unfair no matter what anybody will say.

It's simple. Just split the difference and sell him for 15mil! I belive that's the "true" figure Barcelona were targeting all along. I don't believe they ever seriously considered getting 20mil for him. 15mil is a fair price for him. I'm sure Abramovich's got an extra 5mil in loose change lodged between the cushions of his sofa. So upping the bid another 5mil shouldn't be too much of a worry for him.

Make the bastards pay. Not a cent under 20 millions. They for sure can afford it. If you want the player, pay up. :P

Deco needs a fresh start, and we want to give him one, I think. The mutual respect seems evident in the way this transaction has gone down.

I've never been a fan of teams holding a player for ransom, and I hope that we're above that. We hate it when teams do it to us. Look at Sevilla/Alves and now Sao Paulo/Hernanes.

15 million would be fair, I think, given the uncertainty that accompanies him. That is, will you get last season's Deco, or the guy who lit up his side in the Euros?

Show no mercy!! if they want him come get him!! Honestly i don't see the sense in these sales anyway...Dec..eto', ronaldihno..like r u kidding me, i'VE HEARD STUFF LIKE, "ronaldihno must leave" like this saddens me.. he's won world cup's fifa world player of the year...leagues...and one off season and he needs to go? I'm upset at all this..the signings except for alves haven't done good at helping ease the pain of them leaving either..it's all just confusing..
