Ex-Barça: Henk ten Cate dismissed by Chelsea

Former Barcelona assistant coach Henk ten Cate (53) has yesterday been dismissed by English Premier League club Chelsea, who he joined in October last year as assistant to manager Avram Grant. The Chelsea manager had to leave the club last weekend.

The dismissal was announced in a statement on the club's offcial website saying: "Chelsea Football Club can confirm we have terminated Henk Ten Cate's contract today. This follows a meeting this morning. As a result of the team management changes at Chelsea FC, and in the light of any forthcoming appointment, it was clear this was the correct decision for all parties."

Henk ten Cate was the first assistant of Barcelona manager Frank Rijkaard between 2003 and 2006. He arrived from Dutch club NAC Breda where he was head coach. Three years later, Ten Cate left Barcelona to become the manager of Ajax Amsterdam. With Barcelona, Ten Cate won two consecutive Spanish league titles in 2005 and 2006, ons Spanish super cup in 2005 and one Champions League in 2006.

The guy didn't have much luck since he left Barca. First he was totally dissapointing with Ajax, and now he gets fired from Chelsea after just few months.

I didn't know where to put this article:

"RONALDINHO AND DECO MAY STAY!

It's no secret that Ronaldinho's agent, Roberto de Assis, is already planning a move for his client, while Deco is also said to be eager to move on.

However, there could yet be a twist. The pair are said to be watching with interest as president Joan Laporta suffers an attempt on his presidency, which could change everything.

There is even talk that Sandro Rosell could return to Camp Nou in summer is Laporta is compelled to step down, and the two may be more amenable to remaining under his regime.

Even if Laporta remains, the two will stay if no suitable bid comes in.

For the time being, AC Milan are the most likely suitor to land the Brazilian international, while Deco is apparently still in with a shot of joining José Mourinho at Inter.

In the meantime, Barça are watching funds carefully as they are yet to attain any transfer income."

This was on a transfer/news site so I have no idea under which it would fall. However, as a Ronaldinho fan since the 2002 World Cup, I would be glad if this is the case. With 92 goals and over 40 assist in 185 appearances, holding on to him, at least for another year (when Barca can get Diego), would be better than the current alternatives

The story was in 'Sport' and 'As' today.

About Rosell, nice story but not very credible cause:

1) Rosell president is still far away. Personally I hope he'll become president, but only in 2010.

2) What the journalists forget is that Rosell himself has said a few months ago that he would have sold Rosell after three years, cause he knows Brazilians can be faithful for only three years (in relationships, so also in football relationships)

Deco has said himself he will leave and that he wouldn't cause problems.

We'll see, this are going to be summer soaps so I've decided not to post for now every rumour on the Ronaldinho/Eto'o/Deco stories. Every now and then I'll bring an update post (probably saying: "basically nothing changed").

That's cleared up then. However, it does look likely that Ronnie would have to stay for another season as AC Milan, the only club he wishes to go to, sees him as being too expensive and are unwilling to add good players to the deal. However, would, or 'should' is a better way of putting it, Barca play him. Maybe a good season for him would not only justify his price tag but increase it.

If Milan wouldn't want him anymore, I wonder how he must feel about that treatment. First his brother is their guest of honour for weeks, they have a deal and now Milan pulls back.

Or he has been used or Milan is playing a game.

I've posted this before and im gonna say it again:if guardiola can magically motivate ronaldinho back, then we could be even better than what we were back in 05/06.

Also, i think barca should try to get ten cate back to the technical staff. He is withou doubt a great man manager and given the inexperience of the new manager would certainly add something to the club.As well, ever since the time he left (i.e. after the 2006 world cup), ronaldinho has not been himself. So bringin him back might solve half our problems on the cheap.
