Barcelona keeping an eye on Berbatov

British tabloid The Sunday Mirror claims that Barcelona is following Tottenham Hotspur forward Dimitar Berbatov (27).

Berbatov, whose contract expires in 2010 (with a club option to extend by another two years), would feel unsettled at Tottenham, wishing to join a team who regularly plays the Champions league. Although Tottenham manager Juande Ramos wants to keep Berbatov, the club would now have put a price tag on the player: 50 million euro°.

A second condition to let Berbatov go is that the Bulgarian international could only leave for a foreign club. Interested Premier League teams like Manchester United, Chelsea or Manchester City, the latter being prepared to pay 40 million euro*, would not be allowed to bid for the player. The paper says that Barcelona, along with Real Madrid, AC Milan and Inter Milan, would be ready to compete for the Bulgarian striker.

pep's opinion:
you can't see us pay that price, certainly not cause we have already too much world class centre forwards, of which only one can play that postion in the 4-3-3 system

He's an excelent striker no doubt about it but I can only see him comming to Barca if Dinho leaves. Even then Barca would have to change their formation to 4-4-2 inorder couple him with Eto'o and so that he can be a member of the first XI. So Barca would have to pay alot of money and change alot to accomodate him further more I heard he has an attitude problem and is prone to temper tantrums so i'm not so sure he'd be Ideal to say the least

Interesting remark on his attitude, hamad. Don't think we need this kind of players next season. No diva's anymore, time for motivated players who want to work. Although I agree: excellent player!

Berbatov is much better than Henry at the moment - he's no doubt in Top 5 Europe's best first touches.

But I don't think his future is in Barca. Moreprobably in Man Utd or Chelsea. Or just staying in Tottenham.

Berbatov is a nice striker which 90% of england defenders so for him going to spain he will not like going there but to stay in England and play for either Manchester United or Spur.
