The search of Txiki (5) : Attack

On Thursday Catalan sports paper Sport gave a global analysis of the Barcelona transfer activity for next summer. In five episodes we bring this story to you.

Up front Barcelona is looking for a winger and a scorer. Last november Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain and Barcelona sports vice president Marc Ingla met in Lisbon with the agent of Manchester United right winger Cristiano Ronaldo (23). No chance. Bayern Munich right winger Franck Ribéry (24) has been sounded. Sevilla left winger Diego Capel (20) and AS Roma left winger Mancini (27) are also on the Barcelona list. With Mancini there would be a pre-agreement.

For the center forward position, the transfer price of the first choice, Olympique Lyon striker Karim Benzema (20), is unattainable, so the club has to look at other options. Sevilla forward Luis Fabiano (27) is an alternative who would cost far less, although the problem is that the rights of the player are divided between Sevilla and investment group GSI. Chelsea striker Didier Drogba (30) will only come if his former manager José Mourinho will become the next Barcelona manager.

(this is the fifth and last part of this story, the first part and the second part were published on Thursday, the third part and the fourth part were published yesterday. The five episodes are: 1. Defence, 2. How it works, 3. Midfield, 4. Marital status, 5. Attack)

With Eto'o, Henry and Bojan we have good center forwards, I suggest we don't spend money on that and just go for a good winger.

I like all the wings, Ribery would be a dream move but I dont see it happen. Even if the future speaks for Capel I would prefer Mancini, he is great.

As for striker, we need him. We have no one who would be dangerous in the box. Fabiano could manage it but there are other interesting names which could we choose - Mario Gomez, Diego Milito or Amauri. Just a bench player which could step in and change the game.

I agree, but will we spend another 20-25 million for a bench player (cause that's the price of those three players)? I don't really think so.

But I agree we need that type of player. We have to bring in a new Larsson. I thought last summer we should have got Klose instead of Henry. He would be willing to sit on the bench, he would have costed half the transfer price (not even talking about the salary) and he's a guy that could come in and kill a game, very dangerous in the box, always find the space there, doesn't need a lot to score. He could have been the new Larsson.

I think if we keep the 4-3-3, a winger is the priority. If we have some money left after that, we still could think about how to spend it ;-)

Klose, yeah I wanted this guy last year. He would be ideal - a goalscorer with a very good head and he is also not selfish.

You guys I realize Henry has been a disapointment this season but I believe there is alot more to come from him I just hope he clicks with the team sooner rather than latter.
Two wingers I think Barca should get are Capel to play on the left and Jonas Gutierrez to play on the right what I like about these players is that they can play both as wide midfielders and as forwards

Good mention of Jonas, Hamad. Will also depend ont he manager for next season and which type of game he stands for.
