Daddy Xabi is Barcelona target

British tabloid The Sun says that the future of Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso (26) is very much in doubt after the player refused to fly with his team to Italy for tonight's Champions League game against Inter Milan. This could lead the club to sell Alonso in the summer. Barcelona is one of the teams said to be interested in the player (read more here).

Xabi Alonso did not fly to Milan yesterday because his partner Nagore Aranburu was about to give birth to their first child. The Spanish international still hoped to join the squad in Milan today but Liverpool manager Rafael Benítez decided the team couldn't wait for the player.
