Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain will shortly meet with Barcelona left back Sylvinho Mendes (33) to offer he player a one year extension of his contract that expires at the end of the season.
Although Barcelona took a look at the market, they have decided keeping Sylvinho as a back-up to French international Eric Abidal is the best option: the Brazilian player is highly appreciated by his team mates, he is performing well on the pitch and a renewal would prevent Barcelona from spending a transfer fee.
Sylvinho plays for Barcelona since 2004 and has already indicated ha would consider an offer to renew (read more here).
