How about Di Maria for the left winger?
He has been doing well at Benfica and did great along side Messi at the Olympics.
According to this, he has just rejected Madrid to stay at Benfica, perhaps that has more the to do with Los Putas Blancos then Benfica.

So maybe with the promise to play side by side with Messi, Barca can lure him away from Benfica.

GUARDIOLA LIKES THE SQUAD - GUARDIOLA THINKS THERE IS NOT ENOUGH DEPTH..TXIKI WANTS THIS - TXIKI DOESNT WANT .!!!!! WHAT THE F IS GOIN ON? I MEAN ONE PAPER SAY SOMETHING AND THE OTHER SAYS SOMETHING ELSE! IM LOSING MY MIND OVER HERE HEHE.....

MY OPINION..WE NEED A BACKUP FOR ALVES AND A LW ASAP...PEP GUARD THE SQUAD IS NOT GOOD AT THE MOMENT,,,U GET DEPTH WHEN U HAVE REPLACEMENTS FOR EACH POSITION NOT A TEMPORARY REPACEMENT LIKE SOME1------PUYOL WHO CAN IN NO WAY PLAY ON THE RIGHT!! GET IT!

If Arshavin's price didn't drop, get Neves then. Get him for around 15 million euro. I still think Quaresma is a really good choice, but he might be too expensive.

By the way, what's Di Maria's price tag? If it's lower than 20 million euro, try him.

Saying that barca will move for arshavine in january is not true, y will they go for him?he will not be able to play in CL anyway, and even if he will b new maradona, he will need at least 3 months to adapt...plus barca has never been interested in getting players in january, y now?so forget it...just another ink to fill papers(or text to fill sites:)

i think di maria(like benzema) made a smart choice staying for one more year in portogal, i think that will b better for his career on long run.

LW will be a good added value (even though its not a must), RB?i dont think so, again, i think u need to use payol&pique on the right for some games, as well as using caseres as LB sometimes to ease up the pressure on the CB positions, specially when milito is back...and I understand that payol/pique are not Alves standard, but i cant c any player barca can buy who can perform better than them as back ups, any names?

the talks about palacio and arshavin in january are because the leages in russia and argentina (clausora) are ending in january...
so maybe they'll act then

di maria has a release clause of 30mil, but like said before i think we can lure him to us using messi, although los blancos has gago and higuain who also played with him.

we should get di maria or capel or neves for the wing so there will be more penetration so henry can be more effective and we need a left back a young one.

next summers objectives should be benzema ocoha or neuer and a good left back any names.

I think Di Maria wolud be great, as someone wrote, his buyout should be 30 mil €, but perhaps they would accept Gudjonsson or Henry as a part exchange.

By the way, as a backup for the backs and wingers we should have taken Behrami.

Behrami is ok, but i dont think he accept a back up role, if the impression i have about his personality is right.
how will u satisfy 5 players when u squeeze them to rotate only on 2 positions (CB)?

I would have him play for the 2 wingers as well.
Being 1. backup at 4 positions (backs and wingers) he should se plenty of action.
But sadly West Ham snapped him up for 6-7 mil €.
Maybe De Silvestri could develope into someone simular.

I've suspected the team is set for sometime now. I think at this late stage in the transfer window with the season just around the corner I can understand why Pep would be hesistant to add another player with so little time to implement him into the squad.

As things stand now it looks like Henry is going to have to play off the left again in what very well could be his last season at Camp Nou even though he's got two years left on his contract.

That also means that Iniesta and Hleb? seem to be the only left wing candidates on the club. Neither is an ideal fit for the position but if Pep wants to get Iniesta in the lineup on a regular basis he may have no other choice.

I just don't like to see Iniesta included in the starting XI at the expense of Yaya. If it's because Yaya's rounding back into form after having off season hernia surgery I understand. But I still maintain that Iniesta would be an even greater threat coming off the bench to make his darting runs against a worn down opposition with tired legs.

My biggest qualm is going into the season with Mr. Butterfingers minding the net. Everytime a shot comes on goal you feel your heart in your throat. Sure he'll make a brilliant save here or there, but he also will allow a simple goal to slip through his fingers more often than not. I don't expect him to be as good as Casillas, that's asking too much. But I don't believe Valdes is even in the top 3goalkeepers in La Liga and that's saying a lot playing for a world class team.

di Maria played good for Argentina in the Olympics. even skill-wise that doesn't mean he should join Barca. if we take a left winger from Portugal it should be Queresma again, and he'd be cheaper.

but we're not. we could get an Arshavin and another player for the amount of money we get for a di Maria. shouldn't get excited over every player that plays well in a tournament. (for those of you who level the same charge about Arshavin, go back and watch Zenit's games against Bayern in the UEFA Cup). di Maria, like Capel, isn't Barca material; not yet.

It looks like Madrid want Capel now since they are letting Robinho go to Chelsea. I think between the two Capel will chose Madrid so that leaves Arhsavin and Neves. We already apparently rejected Neves and we all know the deal with Arshavin. My guess is that we will not be buying anymore players. I do feel that we still lack a winger in the true sense of the word, but hopefully our fullbacks can provide enough width that it will give the likes of Messi a little more space. Speaking of which, well done to Messi, if it wasnt for him I doubt Argentina would have won the gold today. Lets hope he now comes back full of confidence for the new season!!
