Case closed: Adebayor

Arsenal forward and Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor (24) will not play for Barcelona as of next season, like had been strongly rumoured over the last months (read more here).

Arsenal has
officially announced today that Adebayor has signed a new deal with the English Premier League club, although no further details were given. The statement on the club's official website reads as follows:

"Arsenal can today confirm that Togolese forward Emmanuel Adebayor has signed a new long-term contract with the Club. Everyone at Arsenal looks forward to Emmanuel’s continued contribution to the Club over the coming years."

I'm sure there are more than a number of Barcelona fans on here, (and throughout the world) who were bitting the bullet and now able to breath a huge sigh of relief at this latest news.

I wasn't entirely opposed to adding Adebayor but I had my doubts and I understood Pep's "logic" for doing so, but not at the expense of losing Eto'o. Time will tell if we suffer a similar fate in Champions League, but I tend to be optomistic pinning my hopes that an influxion of new players, and a new "fresh" approach from the coaching staff will render a much different result next time around.

THANK GOD!!! He needs 10clear chances to score 3 and his assist rate sucks! no doubt he would get better..but Sammu rules at least for now!!!

Well I think that our chances to win champions league is a lot smaller without Adebayor. Eto'o are just 1.80M and sucks at heading / holding the ball which Adebayor (1.93M) are really good at. He would have added another dimension to our play.

adebayor's shot conversion rate is actually very good. if you look at his stats he takes effectively the same number of shots as torres does to score. ronaldo needs many more shots then both.

so where did Ades ability get Arsenal to? Mind you they have of the best midfields in the WORLD.. So what makes you think he would get us the CL? If i remeber, it was this same Sammy that won us the CL in 2006. Or has he gone shorter? Lost his holding ability? Please dont look for excuses. Ade CAN NOT compete with Sammy.. @ least for now. SAMMY RULES!!!

The only Great opportunity to boost LW was Sliva (btw do any of the ones who will reply on this, watched Valencia-Real madrid?) and barcelona missed the chance of signing him, not because he agreed to stay with valancia, but because they failed to offer the deal that would make valancia sell him...
If they pay 20M for arshavine then that will show what i mean when i say they missed a chance, because for less than 25M valancia would sell.
Now I dont care if anyone come or not, its all risky and uncertain, time will tell if it will work or not, because now its not a matter of common sense anymore, but a gamble of destiny.
