New Cesc agent on good terms with Barcelona

Catalan sports paper Sport reclaims (read more here) that, after the split with Joseba Díaz (read more here), the new agent of Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fàbregas (20) will be Darren Dein, who won't only assist the player in sports matters but will also help him in picking publicity contracts. Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo confirmed the appointment, adding that it was at the demand of his family that Cesc broke with Díaz but that in exchange the player himself could choose his new agent.

Although no immediate action will be undertaken, the switch could make future transfer negotiations more easy for Barcelona, since, on the one hand, Joseba Díaz was declared 'persona non grata' in Barcelona after the way Cesc left the club back in 2003 and, on the other hand, the relations between Darren Dein and Barcelona are excellent. Last summer, Dein negotiated the transfer of French forward Thierry Henry from Arsenal to Barcelona with Barcelona economic vice president Ferran Soriano and Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain.

Darren Dein is the son of David Dein, the former vice-president of Arsenal. He has worked as external adviser of Sports Entertainment and Media Group (SEM), where he advised players like Thierry Henry, Rio Ferdinand and Dennis Bergkamp. Dein is considered to be a close friend and confidant of Henry.
