Lippi is in the race too

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that former Italian national team coach Marcello Lippi (59) rejected offers from, amongst others, Newcastle United and the Irish Football Federation because he is, as Lippi is quoted, “waiting for Barcelona”. Since he quit after winning the World Cup with Italy in 2006, Lippi has always been seen as a possible substitute for current manger Frank Rijkaard, although his name has been staying in the shadow of names like Mourinho, Van Basten or Wenger.

Mourinho or Lippi. I think both have the quality, but maybe we need more the character of mourinho at this moment. With another squad, Lippi would be great too.

I liked his quote recently that coaching a top team is mainly monitoring the dressing room. That is so true.
