Portuguese weekly paper Focus claims that Barcelona has sealed the transfer of Porto central defender and Portuguese international Bruno Alves (27).
The Portuguese central defender would join Barcelona on a five-year deal, with Porto receiving a transfer fee of 20 million euro° (read more here).
The paper reveals an sms that Alves would have sent by mistake to an unknown person instead of to a friend and in which the player confirms the transfer.
The message reads: "With a lot of sadness I will leave Porto at the end of the season. I was yesterday [4 February] at the club with my agent and the deal is good for both parties. I signed with Barcelona for five years. I'm very happy but I'll keep Porto in my heart."
Portuguese sports paper O Jogo, that says that a rumour about the sms was running through the media for the last days, reports that Porto denies a deal and claims that the legal department of the club has filed a criminal complaint against strangers for the fake use of the names of Porto players.

I would find this a very very strange transfer if true. Unless Barça are planning on selling both Milito and Marquez.

Doesn´t all this look a little bit too fake? This sms sounds like a whole farewell speech. (And how could ever be confirmed if it was Bruno Alves who sent the sms?)

if they are not going to offload marquez and milito than i dont see this to be a truth. count with me, we have pique, milito, henrique, marquez, puyol and caceres for the DC job. they are all quality players and paying another 20M for him..? i really doubt it is a truth, even thoug the message sounds plausible who knows if it is real..
Hell no... first we shud secure a left back player before thinking of anyone else... and a cover for Dani Alves would also not be bad... but why CB???

Bruno is a strong man and tall(1,89cm). Playing in the national team (second man after Pepe).
Good technique and experience.
I dont mind to have him in the squad instead of Milito/Marquez.
But i think it is too early to speculate about new players. It will get clrearly later in the summer.

The story of the sms sounds really fishy. So he sent an sms to a friend who he probably has stored in a phonebook to the wrong no., in which he neatly gives every little bit of vital about the change. Also I cant see Barca offering a 5-yr contract to a 27 yr old player.
if true,i think this is not a good transfer,pls lets get henrique back instead of buying another center back.all we need is a left back and a young right back to cover up for dani.and if we cant find one,i know hwnrique can help to do that of caceres (if not loaned out).bruno can never be offered a contract of five years.he is just lieing.
