i thought he was called to the first team..havent heard nothing yet

about the arshavin matter, get him and keep him for 3 years.. petro and gai will be ready by then for full first team players.. my opinion.. but if pep thinks that they can be world class players then do not buy anyone because they will get limited game time and won't have the best possible improvment..

Hey pep,, I never heard that Gai was bieng promoted...??? Mistype maybe...or did you mean that he will be promoted soon (like a yr or 2)..

Pep never said Gai was being promoted, it says, "Coming through", that means that they are coming in near future.

But then Arshavins age is perfect for this, Hes 27, when he is 29-30 Gai would be perfect to take over the left wing and can slowly be taken into the first team under these years. Then in 3 years we sell Arshavin or even use him as backup so Gai can shine.

But im with the board on this, dont pay any 20 - 25 million for Arshavin, the initial 15 million is perfect.

i was thinking about this myself...if u dont look at jeffrens selfishness,
who do u like more..
pedro or jeffren?

Jeffren is clearly the most talented one of the two. He was also one of the guys whose name was going around for some years while nobody really believed Pedr(it)o could make it, even after having played some minutes with the first team last season. But you don't make it wih talent alone, hope Jeffren understands that on time.

Jeffren and Gai aren't physically capable of handling the left wing full time or in the Champion's League. Arshavin is.

take him for a few years until Jeffren and Gai pass puberty and can't get bumped off of the ball so easily, then move them up and put Arshavin into the middle behind the strikers (where he often plays for Zenit) as a playmaker. that sounds ideal.

i'd go as high as somewhere between 20m and 24m for the Russian, if he's our last summer signing. lord knows we have the money.

That's why I keep opining that Barcelona don't need to break the bank to sign a left winger. They have players in Pedro, Gai, Jeffren, who in a couple of years time could be ready to fill the wing positions on a full time basis.

If Guardiola sticks primarily to a 4-3-3 system chances are pretty good that Henry's going to have to play as the left "winger" again. In the event Pep flips him with Eto'o upfront then I can see either Hleb or Iniesta playing as the left winger. Not the most ideal of circumstances but far from horrible.

Hopefully at least one of the three, (Pedro, Gai, Jeffren) will pan out in a couple of years, having gained experience and playing time on loan to other clubs. And be ready to step in and play for the club for many years to come.

I just want to see these lads get a fair chance to crack the club at some point. I can understand if in the end Pep and his staff don't feel they are either good enough or mentally strong enough to live up to the challenge. What I won't condone is just giving up on them due to lack of patience. Like it or not they are the future of the club.

I'm with you, ba. It's risky to not get anyone and Arshavin seems the most solid option.

Maybe we can still get some money for Gudjohnsen. 5 million must be possible, let's hope Eidur realizes he really has no place in this team anymore (especially with Keita being able to physically strengthen midfield) and that some desperate club looking for a striker comes knocking on our door end of August.

i don't think barca needs to splash the cash on arshavin, although he is a player that can contribute to the team, simply because i think the contribution will be low for his price of 20-25m, maybe 15m.
neither capel seems a wise choice since he is young too and whats the point if we have 3 talented youth wingers?
palacio could be a nice choice for 3-4 years.
neves seems like the best choice,
not too young, not to old, got experience, versatile... looking at henry's age it seems like a wise choice.

Jeffren is not more talented than Pedro. He may be flashy and what now but Pedro can get by his man more times than not. Pedro is very quick and unselfish which adds to his talent.
