Moutinho hoping to catch Barcelona train

Asked about the rumours linking him with a summer move to Barcelona (read more here), Sporting midfielder and Portuguese international João Moutinho (21) has suggested to journalists that he hopes the transfer could go through: "Barcelona is one of those trains that only pass once in a lifetime."

Catalan sports paper Sport states that the player's buyout clause of 25 million euro° expires tomorrow, leaving the negotiations on a transfer fee totally open from that moment on.

I wouldn't pay more than 25mil for him. Now that his buyout clause is about to expire perhaps Barcelona can get him at a lesser price, 20-22mil perhaps?? Should Chelsea decide to enter into a bidding war over him, or if Sporting demands more than 25mil for him I would set my sights on Van de Vaart instead. Barca should have the mindset of keeping their options open so as not to give in to Sporting's demands should they become excessive.

Moutinho is considered more of a Deco replacement. I'd take him over Van Der Vaart in about two seconds, even at the same price, even if Moutinho was slightly more expensive than VdV.

We'll see about the transfer price. He hasn't really done a Villa-like price raising with his Euro performances, so here's hoping.

Chelsea is going to screw up the world for high-demand players. Scolari has a 120-million war chest, and he intends to spend every penny of it. So you might see guys getting more money than they deserve, unfortunately.

Let's hope we're amongst the lucky ones... ;)

Moutinho looks really very similar to Inieste in my opinion, so I think we now must first concentrate on a left winger (which we need anyhow, whoaver leaves).

I think the player that Barsa needs more than anyone now is David Silva. He's probably the best left winger in the World right now. And his performace against Sweden in Euro 08 will only solidify his reputation.
I don't think we need Moutinho as he is similar to Xavi and Iniesta, I don't think he will offer anything new.
