Barcelona could play two games in Seattle

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona and Chelsea could play a friendly game in the United States next summer.

Both teams would go and play exhibition games in the US during the pre-season and could face each other for a friendly match in Seattle. The game would be played at the stadium of American football team Seattle Seahawks.

Asked about the rumour that Barcelona could also play a game against new MLS team Seattle Sounders, a spokesperson of the club said to American news site Prost Amerika that the talks are ongoing: "We are in discussions with representatives of Barcelona. However, at this time we are not at the stage where we can make any announcement regarding the club coming to Seattle."

It's so annoying when you see a footballmatch being played in an American football stadium.

How will you know it is an American football stadium if no American football lines are on the pitch? Is there something about that stadium itself that makes it an American football stadium?

I'm sure being in America is enough annoyance for ilias.

American football stadiums usually have player entrances in the corners of the field, aren't typically designed to hold an atmosphere seeing as such stadia are home to a spectator sport, and generally have crap pitches.

It's just not the norm compared to what is seen in Europe.

I was at the Real Madrid v DC United game in '05, the Gold Cup games, the Brazil v Canada game and the Mexico v China game all at Qwest. The 66k plus there didn't seem to mind the game was in a "Football" stadium.

In fact, Qwest is larger and nicer that just about any stadium you would see in Europe and on par with the Futbol cathedrals I'm sure ilias prefers. Qwest is one of the nicest and LOUDEST places to see any sport in the US.

Keep in mind none of those games (save for the Gold Cup one) featured a team with any ties to Seattle. It was just fans who love the game.

What's up with all the US hate? You don't see me on here bashing your countries, shame that you think Barca should only play in Europe and everyone should be forced to travel there to see them. Providing Americans with this opportunity means a lot to American fans.
