Barcelona to offer Eto'o in Trezeguet deal

Italian newspaper Il Corriere dello Sport claims that Barcelona is still interested in Juventus forward David Trezeguet (30), despite the fact that Juventus has clearly expressed that the club is not willing to sell the French striker.

Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain would now be ready to offer Juventus a swap deal including Barcelona forward and Cameroon international Samuel Eto'o (27). In return the Trezeguet would come to Barcelona, who also would receive an additional amount of money from the Italians.

I just dont get this! Will someone explain me what kind of politics Barca board plays? To change Etoo, one of three best strikers in the world, for such un old guy, who never did something special, or won something. And who could adapt to spanish football in let say 5 years..
This all makes me mad!

Go to hell Txiki, yes and Pep too if he support this.

Who will recieve an amount of money, Juve or Barça? Because with Txiki you really don't know. :/

godddddddd, i hope this is not true....

Samy should stay :( he is our lion, i dont know why they are forcing him out :(

IF eto'o leaves they should replace him with a real striker ala Villa or Torres "next to impossible"

OMG! What a stupid Barca board!

Very good news! Also give them Iniesta and Krkic for Camoranesi, Puyol for Chielini, Toure for Almiron and Messi for Del Piero and Barca will conquer spanish third division!!!Well done Txixi and Laporta...GIVE ETO FOR ADEBAYOR IF ETO DOESNT WANT(OR CLUB DOESNT WANT HIM) TO STAY!!!
Barca MUST bring tall striker cuz they already brought Alves for target man, but please no Trez...Adebayor is perfect for that role...

ahhh damn, it wasn't the pink crapper it was corriere della minghia, another name, same BS paper...

Guys this has not been confirmed by Barca itself. It was Italian media who have come up with this story, so it is not believable to me. You guys act as if Laporta came out and said we want this deal.

its possible for barca to do this swap.u will be surprised when is written on the barca official website, as far as laporta and txiki are there, anything goes.i believe they can do it.

Barca fan new to the site this transfer season, always some news to read... my compliments to pep.

I agree that this would be madness. It's been good to see some defensive signings (can't deny we've been weak down back for ages), but I am also worried about how they're handling the striker issue this summer.

Eto'o may cause some problems in the dressing room, but Adebayor's attitude hardly seems better and he's less proven. Surely Pep could try to bring Eto'o into line for a year before selling him. Besides, Henry is not getting any younger and looked past it most of last year.

If he wants a tall striker at all costs, he should therefore get someone young and tall as an addition to Eto'o & Henry, an occasional/bench player who can step up to a starting role next year if he works. Gomez is 22 y/o, 189cm and cheaper after a poor Euros, maybe he fits the bill?

I read somewhere (probably here), that his dad's a Barca fan so it fits with getting people likely to give their heart and soul to the club. I just wonder if he's good enough in the air and cheap enough as an addition to, not replacement for, Eto'o.

Welcome, meursault.

And (although I don't mind) I start to think there's some kind of conspiracy going on with all those compliments today...

I agree on the Adebayor remark: if you see how he's acting these days, you really should wonder how he could fit in this 'group with a great mentality' Guardiola wants to form. He seems a guy who won't just accept sitting on the bench three games in a row.

And Gomez is just a culé, he has declared that several times, not only when Stuttgart played Barcelona in the CL group stage last season.

Barcelona only have themselves to blame for finding themselves in this mess. First they allow Eto'o to leave without a suitable replacement at that position. Then they decide to put all their eggs in one basket and risk everything on Adebayor without having a Plan B. Now they are just throwing darts at a board hoping one of them will stick. It's like a merry-go-round one day it's Trezequet, the next day it's Berbatov, then Sheva, Gomez, Guiza, and on and on. Well will it ever end?

And even if Adebayor is seen as the "perfect fit" for Guardiola's new formation his "me first" attitude is not one that I would imagine would endear itself in the close knit locker room that Guardiola's trying to mesh. Adebayor is showing that he is only loyal to money! And if he can act this way towards Arsenal you can be that he can and will (at some point) act the same with Barcelona. This team doesn't need a mercenary for hire.

tall, not expensive, true blaugrana is GUIZA!!! With Etoo, Henry and Bojan, what else could you ask for. Maybe next year Benzema :)

dino, Guiza is not a bad option, hasn't got the height or youth of Adebayor or Gomez, but looks pretty decent in the air and has the Blaugrana connections.

Having said that, with our recent troubles in the dressing room, would it really be a good idea to bring his wife/ girlfriend (?) Nuria Bermúdez closer to the boys at the Camp Nou. I am not Spanish (or Catalan), but have heard enough about her to make me worry (... and that's not even mentioning her Real Madrid tattoo).

I like the idea of keeping Eto'o for a year and waiting for someone like a Benzema next year.
