Marquez offered to Atlético Madrid

Madrid sports tabloid As claims that Jorge Mendes, the agent of Barcelona cental defender and Mexican international Rafael Márquez (29), has offered the player to Atlético Madrid (read more here).

Márquez' current year salary of 5 million euro could be a major problem, although Mendes would have suggested that the player would accept a lower salary.

While Barcelona last year blocked a transfer of the player to Atlético, they would now be willing to cooperate. The contract of Márquez expires in 2010.

I agree with the first comment.
Some guys here say we would have a shortage of length in the attack but I don't agree. were romario and bebeto so big? hell no
he's got streangth speed and much skills.
If not a deal with agueron 15 m would be fair

We should also let Puyol go,alot of ppl dont want to hear that but to be honest he hasnt been at his best for a while now and he was at fault for many many goal's against us..I know ppl will talk trash but it's the truth and alot of ppl dont want to realize it!

I agree that Puyol form was very bad, but he is captain and sinonim of Barcelona and i think he shouldnt be sold cuz club MUST behave good to legends of the club.
Puyol should retire with Barca. maybe he is not at his best but he would die for the team and that kind of players are rare today...

First of all this report is coming from AS-whipe! So don't read that much into it. Secondly who's place is it for Marquez's agent to "offer up" anything?! Unless Barcelona gave him the consent to do so this seems like a pretty bold move! I thought Pep wanted to hold on to him? If Marquez wants out that's a different story....As far as Aguero goes, he's already stated his loyalty to Atletico and I don't see how Barcelona could afford him. Consider that Atletico paid 20mil Euro for him, you can expect them to ask for at least double in return. And don't think his buyout clause would come any cheaper, it's estimated at around 55mil Euro I believe. Since there is no way Barcelona would pay that price they would be better served offering players plus perhaps less cash in return. The problem is that I don't see Eto'o or Deco willing to play for Atletico. And offering Marquez alone isn't going to make a substantial dent in the transfer price. Perhaps Dinho could be offered up as well? So in the end Aguero's pretty much not going anywhere...at least for now.

Hang on there, Sparky. Puyol isn't the man he once was, but some players are icons and deserve love and respect and a place. Look at Maldini at AC Milan. Tell me they couldn't have found a better player for his spot. Of course. Would they have? No. Because the damage you do to a side (psychologically) by kicking a player such as that to the curb is immeasurable. Puyol stays. I'd get someone to put some pressure on him, but if you surround him with good players, his drive, energy and (yes, still) talent are infectious. He's the one icon that we have, even more than Messi (right now).
