Asked about the rumours linking former Barcelona left back defender Sylvinho (35), whose contract with Barcelona expired this summer and wasn't renewed, with a return to Corinthians (read more here), Corinthians manager Mano Menezes has said at a press conference that the Brazilian player wants to continue in Europe:
"Until now, it hasn't been possible to start negotiating with Sylvinho because he prefers to stay in Europe. If he would change his mind later, I would certainly be delighted to have a quality player like him in the squad."

Cant believe he still has no club, shouldnt be a problem for such a class player. I thought he is going to Celtic but that option failed?
he´s a good player, but he´s old...now we have Maxwell and Abidal, and i believed that he will go in another club
am sure he will stay in europe. goodluck grandpa sylvinho
what a great player and a fantastic person.
I hope he signs for Celtic.

Yeah, really strange he didn't yet find a club, he sure has one or two very good years left.
@Anonymous : song is "Helicopter" from "Bloc Party"
I always prefered him over the clueless Abidal !!
Thanks kijux.
Me too, Sylvinho over Abidal. I'm afraid many people didn't see what he was bringing to the team the last two years. Not only in spirit - guiding the youngsters, but also in play. Never any fatal mistakes, always dangerous in attack mode. I also feel he didn't get the ball as much as he should have from Puyol when he was playing CB. Sylvinho always made a good run on the left and clearly showed Puyol he wanted the ball, but Puyol often chose to play it up midefield instead. It pretty much annoyed me in many games, cause we didnt use the left flank as much as we could have. Always playing alves, xavi, messi. More seldom Sylvinho, Iniesta/Keita, Henry
God I miss grandpa already!
for the role he has in the team, and the spirit and leadership he brings. especially with players such as Messi... I really wish we would have offered him another year at Barca, it would have been nice to see him retire in our jersey.
I don't think he ever complains about training, playing time, etc. even if he barely plays I think his presence in the dressing room alone is worth his paycheque.
