alot of rumors out there for abidal and a return of him to lyon next season,i like abidal but i would prefer a player with a better foot for crosses in order to become a threat more often from the left side with crosses too.sylvinho has this but he is 35 and next year he probably wont be at camp nou.

this is the guy i want gareth bale(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxlphjL3VZY&feature=related)

young, strong, fast, high teqh, great left foot, great stamina, seriusly i cant think of a better lb to get. i think this lad will become like dani alves,he would give us the possibility to play from the left as much as we play from the right.

anyway abidal hasnt caught my eye this season, his presence is outshodowed by most players in the team.also i think with sylvinho or puyol we play better, still i rate him very high as a player, but since most teams play full defence against us we have to full use our backs and abidal isnt the right player to play this role

I have kinda been arguing the same thing for a while though my choice for the position is Zhirkov. Also i have never quite fancied abidal.

I like Abidal cos he gives us balance. With Alves playing more as a midfielder, i dont think its best we get another full back who would leave just the centre halves defending. Tho I also like G.Bale, Belhadj, Lahm.

noubarca, with abidal we have to play him in defense coz he is incapable of going fwd and covering the defense to the extent that Alves does. That means we play with 3 centre-backs. the 3 back system has become redundant becoz it is basically a man-marking system meant to handle 2 fwds. these days few teams play with 2 fwds preferring to pack the midfield n leave the lone striker up-front. I referred to this in a comment to Ramzi on his Buy Fabregas in a round about way by talking about the disymmetry in the Barca formation. if we have an attacking wing-back similar to Alves the formation will stabilise in that we have the normal 2 centre-backs n then we can move the 3 rd midfielder next to toure so that both of the them have an exactly similar role to perform with only one moving fwd at a time as n when reqd. The defense is really the same defense which was full of holes in seasons past, but the depth of cover from midfield has improved this is the most important aspect to be retained to maintain a secure defense.

Guys...
If someone can prepare a stats chart about the no. of goals scored from crosses from the left and the right side and compare them, then we would have a better view as to wat Abidal has provided... i wouldn't say tat Abidal is very good going forward... and also, not very solid defensively too... we are almost predictable bcoz mostly we provide the ball to Alves to provide crosses for Henry n Eto'o... and i agree with Kamikaze tat if we have an attacking full back like Alves on the left hand side, we would have more attacking options...
P.S : in the Daily Mail, it was stated that Chelsea are trying for Zhirkov... so we have got to move in the Left back position bcoz its the only position where we dont have anyone to cover for Abidal's injuries...
