Alves deal to be closed next week

Sevilla president José María del Nido has said at a press conference that some last details concerning the transfer of Sevilla right back defender and Brazilian international Daniel Alves (25) to Barcelona will be fixed next week:

"Everything has virtually been agreed upon. We're finalizing the last details needed for him to become a Barcelona player. If everything goes like planned, Daniel will come to Sevilla on Tuesday to say goodbye to the Sevilla fans at a press conference."

pep's opinion:
tuesday is the first day of a new accounting year for barcelona (2008-2009). the financial impact of the operation was probably why barcelona didn't want to close a deal earlier (certainly when for example ronaldinho hasn't yet been sold to balance the alves fee in the books). this also means that alves can and will be presented few days before the vote of no confidence next sunday.

Nice work with the additional info Pep! Still can't help but feel that the timing of Alves's unveiling is more than a mere coincedence. Let's hope for Laporta's sake that displaying the crown jewel of the transfer market so far will be enough to save his neck. I have my doubts. One more significant signing could help but I don't think Adebayor and/or Hleb are what the supporters have in mind.

I think Barca board is somewhat nuts...instead of offering 45 mio. for Adebayor and Hleb, they should just go after Kun Agüero...he is the one that can save Laportas head and make Barca absolutely unstoppable with Kun and Leo...

I don't understand why they haven't been pushing for that deal yet..Madrid wants Marquez anyway so you can do a swap for Marquez and Cash for Kun...
